Chris,
Using them for defence works under the same restriction. I like the idea of variety and it prevents the constant use of 'uber army lists', perceived or otherwise
Cheers,

Tomorrow evening (GMT) I will be going away until next tuesday. If this causes undue hardship to the rest of the players timetables (ie: y'all are straining at the bit to get the next season started) I'll be happy to resign (with the points penalty) any games that are holding things up when I get back.

I have a question. If I use four different armies in a season and then the same four for the next two seasons, since I have used each of these aremies for three consecutive seasons do I have to let them all rest the fourth season?

Technically since there's the Winter break in between, it can never be a problem, since they're going to rest during winter anyway.
It only matters if you use the same army for all battles in a single season, AFAIK.

Correct. Winter is not an 'active' season so does NOT count as a rest.

Not the best map for a pike army but just enough clear space in the middle for them sto steam roll the Indians while the Galatians kept the Indians in the bush busy. A Seleucid general charged some archers in the open and found his lances had been replaced with balsa

, so despite odds of 10:1 for he lost (18% to 2% WTF) and died, leaving the Seleucids with one FC all the way on the left flank. So even with no rally's for most of the game somehow managed to pull a rabbit out of a hat (or may be a snake out of a basket

) and grab a victory.
macsen (Seleucids) 23/35 defeated Iandavidsmith(Indians) 44/44. Seleucid FC lost, the Indians seem to be short one as well, perhaps Ian has some idea what happened to him. No camps looted.
Thanks for the game.

Tiavals(26th Dynasty Egypt) 37/40 vs batesmotel(Later Gatae) 48/48
Tiavals lost 1 FC.
batesmotel lost his camp.
Things started really well for me, but batesmotel played quite well considering the troop advantage I had and I barely won in the end.

The deterrmining factor in this game was the fact that Egyptians are much better looters than the Getae. With three turns of trying the Getae couldn't loot a camp while it took Tiavals skilled Egyptian raiding Chariots only one turn

. Time to send the Barbarians back to looting and pillaging training for the rest of the year! Thanks for a great game.

Good game? Not from where I was sat!

Well played Deeter - I would have struggled anyway but those have to be the worst dice ever. FoG-quittingly bad.

To say nothing of being saddled with archaic Carthegenian technology. Pikes and lancers are much more fashionable.

Looking for Campaign manager.... Had enough of dealing with weird number distribution screwing games up, so am resigning from campaigns.

Hi Keyth
Come again with previous post?
Have you stopped playing, who is going to run the campaign?

I've had enough of FoG for the moment. I know Dan and NewRoSoft are working on the Unity version and will hopefully address the casualty issue, but I'm not going to play on while waiting for that. There are too many games where one either cannot win or cannot lose regardless. Slitherine seem unwilling to admit that something is screwy (cf. Ian's posts on 'the good players always win'). I want to enjoy the game and I don't at the moment - it is frustrating beyond belief.
I can provide the scoring spreadsheet if someone wants to take over.
