SOA - Medieval Welsh vs Medieval Welsh

Tiavals (42/47) vs Turk1964(43/42)

VPs for Tiavals:
Winning 2vp
42 break points caused to opponent = 14vp
4875/12600 manpower loss caused = 39% = 7vp
Camp not looted = 0vp (My unit used the looting action on the last turn, but alas the points are gained on the opponents turn, so no luck)

Total VP: 23 VP

VPs for Turk1964:
42 Break points caused to opponent = 14vp
4349/14100 manpower loss caused = 31% = 6vp

Total VP: 20 VP

A very close battle. The terrain didn't allow for much manouvering and our armies were very similiar. Luck was what decided the day.

gazxtrix wrote:On reflection i think i like this system of scoring better than the LoEG sytem. Minus the bonus for camp looting which is already too well rewarded and unfairly so with large armies.( I see no reason why more battlegroups equates to more bps it should have simply beenpt at a % of army value when it was increased. )

I make no apology for the points awarded to looting a camp - I wanted it this way to entice players to vary their play.

BPs v casualties - we need points for both to help with balance against players who 'flood' their army with low value BG's to push the army BP up. Such troops are usually arrow fooder for casualties. Equally I feel it awards players who take their time to inflict the max casualties before finishing the battle - again this should be altering the more usual style of 'first past the finishing post wins' play.

Certainly I don't maintain what I have is anywhere near perfect but I think it suits this competition where I want to encourage players will varying levels of experience to join in & have a decent score even if defeated.

VPs for Flatsix518 :

5069/11740 manpower loss caused = 43% = 8vp
Camp not looted = 0vp

30 Break points caused to opponent = 10vp
4137/10500 manpower loss caused = 39% = 7vp
Camp not looted = 0vp

Total VP: 17vp

Brawling battle with many twists and turns. In the end I succeeded in winning on the two flanks and losing the center (again -- story of my life). The right flank battle was against some bad terrain and I had an advantage in light troops there. On the left we had a swirling cavalry battle that went every which way. I think I had more heavy can in the fight and barely edged it out. Great game. Much closer than the score which got run up by a lot of gratuitous over kill on my part.

We like gratuitous overkill

Peter, I will also take Medieval Welsh if there is still a space - it looks like you may only have 5 players for this army.

Busy today. I usually travel on Mondays -- and will probably fall behind on my two games and picking up the new challenges.

As soon as I get my head back above water...I'll get going again.

Gazxtrix, Turk1964 in the battle over Which Lancastrian Football team is best MUFC came out on top, due to some appalling refereeing decisions and some lucky dice rolls.

Turk1964
