I just finished the first part and wanted to import my core units to the second part (DLC40 file) but i can't . The 1.5 update i have and i use GME. Do you have any idea what is the problem? For the case i also try with the vanilla file but it was the same result when it started in england. Thanks!
Thank you very much!

Important:
!!!The pack must be present in \mydocuments\mygames\panzer corps\mods
!!!Your core is saved when reading the last debriefing of GTPG1.
!!!Remove the GTPG2_DLC40 before playing. Both GTPG2 packs don't run together (because they have the same GUID).
!!!You don't need GME is you are not using the sound mod, althou imo it's a great add-on

Hope this was helpful. Have fun ;).

I just finished the Leningrad scenario. Very tough. I lost two core air units, an armour unit and a paratrooper. I don't know if I've ever lost 4 core units in a scenario.

One thing. I did not get a DV but I took all the objectives. It gave me a loss instead of an MV.

Very strange. When you take 8 objectives and sink the transports you get a DV. The 8 objectives only you get a MV. I will check tonight.

Leningrad hotfix.

Fortunately Martyward brought it to my attention.

I used the wrong parameter that when you capture 9 or more primary objectives, you automatically lose.

This hotfix corrects that error. From the moment you take 8 or more, you get a DV (+sinking the transports) or a MV.

Extract this file in:

\mydocuments\mygames\panzer corps\mods\GTPG3\ it will ask you to overwrite the data folder and 013.pzloc and 013.pzdat file

This will only overwrite the leningrad scenario! And is by no means a full update at this time.

DO NOT APPLY THIS HOTFIX WHEN YOU PLAY THIS SCENARIO. THEN ONLY CAPTURE 8 (AND NO MORE!) VICTORY HEXES FOR A MV.
A DV IS ONLY POSSIBLE IF YOU FIRST SINK THE TRANSPORTS AND THEN TAKE THE 8th VICTORY HEX.
OR RESTART THE SCENARIO WITH A SAVEGAME OF THE PREVIOUS MISSION TO LET CHANGES TAKE EFFECT!

Soon it is time to drink to everybody's health or whatever qualifies but before that i have been thinking how to proceed with the GTPG project.

How it could look like.

GTPG 5: Rostov, Kharkov, Kursk, Moscow43 and one more scenario of which ideas are welcome;

GTPG6a: Army group center, Wacht am Rhein, Budapest, Berlin-East, West-Germany
GTPG6b: Anzio, D-Day, Cobra, The Netherlands, Wacht am Rhein, West-Germany

If you manage to get a DV in the last scenario of GTPG6a or b you will be able to play GTPG7. GTPG7 will be the last part of this whole campaign.
Afterwards some packages will get a (minor) update and in the end i hope to present the whole campaign with one campaign tree of more or less 39 scenario's.

I would also like to thank everybody for giving this campaign a try. Sofar the 3 GTPG packages (without the standalone scenario packages) have been downloaded altogether 460 times.

GTPG4 will be posted on the first saturday of january when (most) things are sober again ;).
Anyone who would prefer to get it earlier, just send me a pm.

As always, your feedback and insights are highly valued and appreciated.

Happy New Year!

new(?) scripting idea in a scenario

For GTPG5 i came up with a new(?) idea.
Until now the player received in certain scenario's reinforcements automatically (and now i am talking about all my projects). Some players use them, some don't need them.

What if the player can decide for himself if he could really use a few more units to turn the tide?
The two screenshots show the mechanics behind the idea.

Image

Any unit just has to move to the hex marked with A. The reinforcements will arrive in the hexes marked with $.

Image

And voilĂ ...the following turn your reinforcements have arrived and await your orders.

What do you think?

Hello! thanks for the mod. Just played 1st scenario. Question from fool- I see no the link for the last 4st scenario. Where is t?
And another. I playing 1st pack with 1.04 PC. Now ready to install PC 1.05.
Do I need restart campaign to play all scenarios joint?

Good morning. There are no stupid questions here... i'm always glad to answer them.

- The 4th pack will be available since saturday.
- After your update to v1.05 you do not need to restart the campaign. To start GTPG2, start the game, chose new game, chose more campaigns, and GTPG2 should be in the list there (when it was properly put in the mods folder). When you start the second part you will have the chance to import your core from GTPG1 (core was saved during the last debriefing of the Dunkirk mission).

If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Progress report

I still need to test the GTPG4 standalone scenarios before release on saturday. The campaign itself is as good as done for a first release. For those who can't wait, just send me a pm.
Then i need to take a break from this project to continu with the Italian Campaign 2.0 colloboration project with Uhu.

For the upcoming GTPG5 pack, the scenario's are chosen, the maps are made, the units are placed and already 4 scenes had their first playtest. As i wrote in another thread, i implemented a new scripting twist: at the player's request several units will appear on the map as reinforcements. In gameplay terms you will have to move a unit to a hex (marked with A for example) and the next turn the reinforcements will be awaiting your orders. I scripted it for the very first time in the Kharkov43 scenario. Probably in the last scenario of this pack i might do it again. I am very eager to learn how player's think of that idea.

It is still early but it is better to start asking it from today. I will repeat the question from time to time as posts move up rather fast. It is an important question for GTPG: the next level.
What do you think about receiving axis minor core units?

Screenshots of GTPG5

Image

Kharkov43. Here for the first time the reinforcement trigger with a twist: at the player's request, you will receive a few reinforcements.

Image

At one of the several objectives in the Kursk scenario. Dug in units got nasty bites.

Image

An overview at the beginning of the Sicily scenario. It is going to be a non compulsory mission.

Image

Don't expect allied strength numbers all to be 10.

Image

Turn one in the Moskow43 scenario. I encircled the reinforcement twist. You go to A with a unit and the next turn you will have those reinforcements on the $ hexes.
Notice that this is still a mixed core. Few tigers, panthers, pz IVH and even still the KV1-B and C models you could capture in earlier packs. You can capture a KV-85 on this map.

Suggestions? First impressions? Feel free to share.

It's only my opinion so here goes - perhaps too many units. The reason I say that is,

1. With so many units playing a turn can take too long
2. It looks cluttered
3. Playing a turn becomes like one of those puzzles where you have to move one piece before you can move others and the order you move them in becomes important.

Otherwise, looks good and the reinforcement hex idea looks like a winner.

Hello nikivdd ! Some another questions. I've played only 1st pack. On some maps I see no names of cities.
(In Warsaw and Eben -emael operations definitly) In Norway, its ok(as I remember)
Thats a bug of my game may be?
thanks one more time!

All opinions are appreciated!

Since this is (almost entirely) a tribute, i decided to stay relatively close to the original (incl. the amount of units),i threw in a few other maps as well, implemented a few of my ideas and most of the time went into testing. His idea was definitely more units, more battles, more sweat.
The maps are usually larger than the vanilla stock, so the cluttering could have been even worse. Where the original allowed to get up to 80 core units, i will probably go to 60 (SE units included).
About the length of the turns, usually after 5 turns, waiting time is much smaller. If all goes well by then, the enemy airforce is decimated, and you start to punch holes into the enemy's defenses.

On the map, Sicily, there is a bit of a problem with the cluthered units because in some cases the AI can be really a major pain. Unlike human opponents, the AI doesn't take risks. And then you have a lot of tanks that stand there and don't want to attack the player's tanks. But bring an infantry unit forward...ho ho ho...hell breaks loose. The AI really needs an upgrade to make scenario's like these much more attractive.
In any case, I'm going to attempt to improve it somewhat but i need a night's sleep.

After 4 packs, i'm overall satisfied and perhaps even i can be a bit proud of it :).
And your remarks got me thinking...if enemy units would be reduced by let's say 25%, but with a higher prestige-per-turn, what the effect on gameplay would be...
Thank you for your insights, it gives me something to think about.

It is not the bug. I was only able to name those cities that had a name in the original. If anyone can fill any of the gaps, that would be great.

Thanks nikivdd! Ready to try a new pack...
About 1st pack. Iv spent a good time and got enjoy.
Some thoughts about Norway. Historically germans paratroops attacked simultaneously all big cities, including distant Narvik. They managed took them. But germans have problems in capturing Oslo.
Then englishmen took back Narvik and only major germans forces captured it again.
May be you can give to player more paratroops.(in order to reach Narvik) And enforce Norwegian forces in Oslo to defend it better.
If you can give reinforcement to both armies in the midle of operation, it would be closer to historical facts.

Yesterday I begin 2st pack. Surprisingly I see a shore of England.Thats ahistorical campaign?
last question.
Can i play all packs as a one campaign? Or I need to play each pack as a standalone game?
Good luck! Still I think your mod is best!

Yup, it is an ahistorical campaign in some parts. In the orginal Panzer General, there were also ahistorical scenario's upon certain results.
Unrar GTPG1-2-3-4 into your mods folders. When you finish GTPG1, your core is saved at debriefing of the last mission (Dunkirk). Then start the next campaign pack (GTPG2) and in the beginning you get the chance to import your GTPG1 core and off you go. This system has the advantage that you don't have to create the whole campaign at once but release it piece by piece. When all packs are done, then i will melt them together into one single campaign for download.

Very interesting thought on the Norway scenario, i think i am going to implement few of your ideas. Most packs will get an (minor) update after the last one is finished.
