cavehobbit (Medieval German (early)) 25/42 vs gazxtrix (WOTR Yorkist) 24/48

After some fighting on the flanks, both sides main forces stood looking at each other from a safe distance. This resulted in both generals agreed to end the battle and go back to their camps.

Thanks for the game!

Wow! That was close. That has decided our division, I think. I wouldn't have minded an AAR to have been able to follow this game as it progressed.

The Serbians won initiative and picked the symmetrical map with the triangular steep hills and woods at the edges. It would have been easy for either general to offer a draw...the Castilian steamroller could never catch the mobile Serbs, and the Serbs can't break a solid wall of spearpoints. With cat and mouse began.....

1) The Castilian army, heavy on spears and pikes, drove forwards in a dense block. The Serbians cavalry and archers started to wrap round their left flank. Serbian knights are heavy on the extreme flanks.

2) The Serbian general makes his only mistake of the game. The Castilian pikes splinter the knights and heavy foot in the centre. The entire Serbian left flank races across the face of the advancing spears before the Spanish close the door. The Castilians are not mobile enough to save their camp and don't even try. Castile ahead: 15/25

3) Most of the Serbian left wing makes it to the safety of the rocks, the cavalry easily, but a force of 8ish units can't make it and are trapped. The Castilians are refusing their left flank heavily as it is hanging in the air. Castile still ahead, but the gap narrows: 30/35

4) The trapped Serbs are squeezed out of existence, but do not reap as big a BP advantage as expected as they sell their lives dearly or evade off the map unrouted. Meanwhile the Castilians are suffering heavy casualties, most at the hinge of their line as their pikes and spears are drawn on to the steep hills. Nimble Serbian MF LS-only in the rocks humble Swiss pikes (+1 dice, +2 POA impact, +1 POA melee). There is the constant rain of arrows.....and the Serbian knights are waiting for weakness..........and see it....... Serb win 50/47

Great game, one of my best in FOG, congrats to Steve, thought I had him at one stage, but he wriggled free and he deserved the win due to his superb tactics.

Oh well, I guess I've got no excuse not to finish my game with Eric now......

An entertaining game as both sides at the capabilty to win. Deciding factor was the Cypriot Med Cav crushing the Santa left flank. They then attacked the main line from the rear.

Thanks to todd for the game.

Not sure what happened, but it seems that the Irish Galogalah's were not as superiour as they thought. The Kerns stood their ground as did the most of the bow. Cyp Knights and Armoured spears won out in the end.

Thanks to Finir for the game,
