Can you clarify for me:

The Eastern Roman Emperor could add to the army now in Dacia: 50pts (from Western Emp.) + 50pts (Emerg. Levy) + 30pts (current reinforcement level).

Yes?

Oiiii...I'd hang around if I had some chance, but that would put him at 384 + 130 = 514 to my 340. Yikes!!

Does that 50pts sent to the other emperor come off an existing army? Or is it nebulous? Could the West send the East 50pts and the East send the West 50pts in the same turn?

How about because of my great victory the Goth army can grow to 550??!!??!!

Xfering 50 ap's of troops from empire to empire isnt free, he deductives 50, i get 50 vice versa, also the reciever loses prestige

Emergency levies also cost prestige, noone wants to defend their cities any more:(

1) Yes - max 50 transfer (His other army or Western Europe) + 50 Levy + 30 Reinforcements = Max +130

[The difference between beating an army and beating an empire. On the other hand, he may be happy to pay you some loot to leave, rather than weaken the whole front....]

2) The Emergency levies are new recruits, but cost prestige. The 50 point transfers between emperors come from their other armies, so mutual 50 point transfers would achieve nothing (other than a warm fuzzy feeling - not to be underestimated)

3) Rather than just negative results for the Romans, your great victory deserves some reward, so yes, due to your new reputation among the gothic tribes as a great leader, the Gothic army now has a 550 point ceiling, not 500.

The Eastern Emperor engages the Goths with promises of tribute after his catastrophic defeat........but he is only buying time to reorganise his forces! The Goths dally slightly too long this side of the border, and get caught by the reinforced Roman army, hot for revenge!

The Alemanni and Visigoths loot the countryside while the 2nd Western Marine army takes a relaxing vacation on the Mediterranean beaches.......

Second Battle of Thracia
Romans (444 points + 4 poor limitanae) vs Ostrogoths (340 points) in Mixed terrain = Roman Advantage (again)

Ostrogoths - try to keep the same forces as before, you have not been back to the homeland to retool your army.....although you might get that opportunity soon.......
Romans - you how have the limitations of reduced prestige - no inspired general and only up to 50% MF/HF Superior

Seconds out, round Two! can the Goths pull off another stunning victory?

I shall try to remember the lessons of defeat and come out of this battle for revenge victorious, an Empire is at stake :o

Early word from the clash reports the cunning Goth leader (known erroneously to the Romans as Blathergoth) once again chose the battlefield.

A second rider reports the Roman host to be much smaller than anticipated...barely besting the Goths by maybe 6 BG.

So far the Protected Roman foot with bows are proving to be no match for Blathergoth and company, as he is now ahead 5 to2. On the upside though the armoured legionaries are proving to be a nasty match up in melee and he is losing strength, I hope I can continue to weaken him and send him running back to Blathertoria or where ever it is he came from

Sketched from a mountain slope behind the Gothic lines:

The Goths are hopeful but well aware that it ain't over until the fat boy's speared!

HuuuHuuuHuuuZZZahhHHHH!!!!!!!

Victory Again!!

Image

Goths: 8700/2633 15/29 WIN! 8)

Rome: 10500/3951 43/35

We tried valiantly to hack the Roman CinC to pieces but didn't quite manage. (He's with superior legionaries in the middle, surrounded by Ostrogoth lancers!)

Oh dear. Maybe the Eastern Roman Emperor should avoid the Goths in future....

Western Roman Prestige -2 looting in Solonna and Franks
Eastern Roman Prestige -6 for a decisive loss with a Roman advantage

The Goths are now too weak to continue raiding (less than 250 points) so they retire back across the Danube.....taking a little loot with them, but a lot of glory. The stunned Romans slink back to Dacia.....

Has the tide turned? Reinforcements, emergency levies and moves for AD369 please.....
