The Soviets could surely reach the oil fields before I will be there, but the US need to be shipped through the Atlantic, which will be difficult because soon the Regia Marina and Kriegsmarine are ready to engage any forces going for Basra. I can perhaps even block the pathway to Basra with my naval forces completely.

I say go for the oil - if you get Oil you win this game easily in my opinion.

Your oil is low and so your choice would need to be to go on the defensive almost immediatly or go for oil.

I am enjoying your AAR and would like to see you go for it.

Turn 42 - US enters war! Suez channel soon in Axis hands! Axis minor offensive to conquer the Baltics

This turn the US entered the war. Otherwise there is nothing really interesting to report. Army Group North goes in the offensive to conquer its last objective Tallin:

Image

Army Group South goes into defensive positions. Some of the units near Vinnitsa were hit by the severe winter morale loss, but it seems no Soviet offensive is underway:

Image

Both Army Groups also destroy some of the encircled Soviet border units. There are only few of them left and should be handled in the next two turns.

In Egpyt the Axis spearhead units reach Port Said and will most likely get the Suez channel next turn:

Image

The remaining Kriegsmarine and Regia Marina units will then leave the Med to engage the remnants of the RN and the US navy.

I wonder where all the Russians are :?:

Consider yourself lucky the Russians aren't attacking you. If it were me, you'd be under an all-out offensive in the south right about now. :)

I fear a good part of the Red Army moved to Iraq and I also destroyed a fair share of it :)

My thoughts exactly. Although when I played Kinghunter he was very timid as the Russians and never attacked during the winter. But that's not to say that he won't in this game. I sure as hell would. I'd be aiming to push you back to your starting positions in the south and bombing the hell out of Ploesti, and sending the Yanks to Persia. Forgetting the UK, I'd guess (and not through reading this AAR) that oil would be your weakness. Once the Axis oil goes under 50, you can't actually use all of your units. I wouldn't have snet the Russians to Iraq, because as mentioned earlier in this AAR the Yanks can still beat you there.

I don't think that the US will have an easy time sending their units to Iraq, because of my naval power. I have four BBs, two DDs and 8 SUBs against the combined RN (2 DD, 1 BB, 2 SUBs) and US Navy (1 BB, 1 SUB, 1 DD + the units KH bought). This is the basis of my "Grand Strategy" in this game, to block the western Allies with naval strength from Europe and the Middle East as long as possible.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Glad I'm not KH.

Are you going to take Crete out as well and remove the last vestiges of allied influence in the Med?

Just wondering - I am always worried about the having a garrison floating around the Atlantic looking to take an uninhabited city unawares.

Of course I may be a little paranoid here as the realistic threat may be minimal.

Crete is not Allied occupied as nobody attacked Greek in this game. Only on Cyprus a GAR could be stationed and of course in Malta there is still a GAR holding out. I will take a look next turn if there is still a unit on Cyprus, but I will not attack it if it is still garrisoned neither will I go for Malta. Even if KH tried something with the GARs he cannot do a lot of damage since I garrisoned the most important positions (like Gibraltar, Rome or in a few turns Port Said).

By the way waypoint fron altantic to red sea seems always working for both sides. In out game with KH he attempted allied landing from the Red sea to return Suez.

Interesting. I thought the Atlantic-Red Sea-Persian Gulf-loops are Allied only no matter what..

Turn 44 - Jerusalem under attack, Case Blue revealed

Not much action this turn. Attack on Jerusalem begins:

Image

I begin my planning for the 1942 offensive in Russia:

Image

My basic plan is to push hard in the south of Russia. I will try to pince the Soviet troops between my attack on the Middle East and my push into southern Russia. I will use all offensive units fpr Army Group South and Army Group North will stay on the defensive. It is more or less the original plan for 1942 for the Axis. However, I hope it will not result in the same disasters (Battle of Stalingrad, El Alamein) ;)

In the Atlantic my naval forces prepare for a blockade:

Image

In the northern Atlantic I'm ready for the Soviet convoys:

Image

I also can build now 2 more SS units and more Pars-units.

Turn 45 - Jerusalem falls, Tallin under pressure!

Not much happening. I take Jerusalem and advance towards the Middle East:

Image

Arme Group North attacks Tallin:

Image

I also buy another Italian INF and Kesselring, who will take command of Army Group North.

Turn 46 - Advance towards the Middle East continues, Soviet convoy attacked

Not much happening this turn. I just gained another Infantry upgrade (Anti Tank Guns) and upgraded many INF and MECH units. The INF now have TECH level 8 and the MECH 9.

My advance towards the oil fields of the Middle East continues:

Image

It will be really interesting to see how King Hunter intends to defend Iraq and Persia.

One Regia Marina BB runs into an Allied SUB in the Atlantic and loses to steps. The SUB is encircled by Kriegsmarine and Regia Marina forces. I also engage the Soviet convoy north of Britain with 3 SUBs. I also buy a German MECH and an Italian Commander
