Using Vista. Loaded and running v.09 and working the same as v.08 no problems so far flashing shutting off in under 30 seconds for the most part (one of 5 went almost a minute before flashing stopped). I hope that other vista people have the same success I have had with this fine app.

Downloaded v.09. Immediately changed from 2 to the correct 5 turns waiting. Played one, still showing 5. Played second, still 5. Then I shut down the game and it changed to 3. :?

If the game (or indeed anything) is running in fullscreen then the app automatically doesn't update - and there will be up to a 60 second delay once you exit. Were you ALT+TABing out of the game?

Went away for a couple of hours. One new turn in the meantime and displayed by the app. Suddenly an hour or so later it says 0 turn although I haven't played any.

Allways play in fullscreen. I quit the game from the menu.

It popped up to say zero turns, or you asked it by clicking on the icon? it should never pop up to say that you don't have any turns :).

Is it possible that you had an internet glitch? Just trying to work out why it suddenly behaving so oddly for you. If it was just mistimed popups I could understand, but misreporting the values is a new issue.

Thanks

First I clicked the icon after being away for a couple of hours. It showed four turns wich was correct since one had arrived while i was away. Then I spend 10-15 minutes on the internet. Clicked again on the icon and it showed zero turns.
It's a pity but I can live without it. If it's working for everybody else let it be. Gives you time to concentrate on patching the game instead :D

Don't worry - the patch team is working away. This is just something I'm working on in my spare time. And I want to work out why it's behaving so oddly for you :). I'll probably try and get a debug version out to get some information on what exactly is going on!

OK - I have posted a new version:

http://www.slitherine.com/files/SysTray ... eta010.zip

This has a small fix which should prevent false reportings of zero games if there is some issue with grabbing the info from the server (either because of a failed transfer, or because the app is under another app). Just some fiddly logic to make it play nice with other apps and your normal comp usage.

As always, hoping this great group of beta testers will let me know how it behaves for them.

Thanks

Pip

It will take some time before I can report I'm afraid. I'm at work right now and when I get home tomorrow morning I will sleep all day. I'll install it before I go to bed(if I don't forget).

Interesting I click version v.10 and it shows as v.09 on the task bar. Figure just someone's forget to update a number. Anyway it runs fine good as ever. If it helps I am running Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2 on an Acer Aspire 5610Z. This uses an Intel Dual Core T2080 (1.73 GHz X 2) with a Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset. Hope this helps. Oh I deleted and restarted the app just to chekc that v. number.

I think you're probably right - done last thing on a Friday, so pretty much guaranteed ;).

Thanks for spotting it though.

Well, I remembered to install when I got home this morning. It has worked ok so far.
When I went to bed this morning I had 3 turns waiting and during the day two came in. The app showed 5 when I checked in the afternoon. I then played one turn and after a minute or two it changed to 4.
Haven't had time for more testing since I have one more night at work. Will continue tomorrow.

I think it show the right numbers now even if it sometimes take a while before it changes.
Haven't had a single pop-up telling me a turn is ready. Whether it's because I haven't been in front of the monitor when it happens or it's not working I can't say.

It's still working fine for me.

Hidde, the only conclusion I can draw from this is that it's personal  It just doesn't like you

I'm beginning to think that as well 8)
Finally I'm sitting in front of the monitor when a turn comes in. While checking the rooster ingame a saw a new turn available.
I can say for sure that it took at least three minutes before the app. reacted.
It shows correct numbers but is is very slow to react.
