I'm moving straight on to v1.02 and will prepare an installer as soon as possible.

Apply the GS v1.02 patch and this should solve your problem. This will require you to manually copy the GS v1.02 mod files over the top of your current install.

You can get the patch here: http://rapidshare.com/files/331025773/GSv1.02patch.zip

If you are uncomfortable with this then you can wait on the official installer that Iain is building for v1.02. This installer will take at best two days to build and test properly and at worst several days before general release.

I've built and tested it and so far so good. Now going to upload it for the team to check it works as they intended.

Check out posts before and after viewtopic.php?p=120314#120314

It sounds like you've not change the install location for the GS expansion and are using the default installer location. You need to change the install location to path where your game is installed (e.g., C:\Program Files\Slitherine\Commander - Europe At War).

What will happen if some PBEM opponents apply the new patch (v1.02) and others don't?

What if I apply and a particular PBEMer does not?
or if I don't apply and that PBEMer does?

Thx

GS v1.02 will NOT invalidate save games, but if a player doesn't upgrade from v1.00 to v1.02 it means that the bugfixes we made won't necessarily take place. E. g. the weather will be determined at the end of the Allied player. So if the Axis player upgrades, but not the Allied player then the Canada weather will show the Central Europe weather and not the Northern Europe weather.

Similarly you might see that Syria won't get their primary capital set properly. It depends if France surrenders in the turn of the player who upgraded or not.

Some bugfixes like the airfields will eventually be fixed in an ongoing game if at least one player upgrades. It will be fixed at the end of the turn of the player who upgraded.

The biggest impact might be about convoys because the convoys will apply to two different rules. One at the Axis player turn and another at the Allied player turn. But it won't matter if the Axis player doesn't invade Canada or captures the British ports.

I see no reason why people don't want to upgrade because they can continue their ongoing games. The most critical time is the one around the fall of France. If you don't upgrade you may experience the irreversible bug if German units have entered Vichy France in hexes captured by Italian units or vice versa.

So if you're near the fall of France in your ongoing game then I would have halted playing until both players have upgraded.

So close I can almost smell it!

BUT still missing the text, just get XXX, YYY etc..

The game is running though - just the text is gibberish.

Both players should update to the 1.02 patch or neither. There would be inconsistencies between the versions if you did not, depending on whose turn it was.

I just bought ye game (Matrix version) but have not started fully playing it because/I am waiting for the GS 1.02 installer patch. which brings me to my question. Once the 1.02 GS is released does that mean I can just DL and then install without having to do things manually or having 1.01 installed?

You can just download GS v1.02. It contains everything you need.

That's a first.

The first thing I'd try would be to delete the settings.txt file located in My Documents\CEAW Grand Strategy. If that doesn't work then I'd uninstall the GS mod, download (if you already haven't) the GS v1.02 installer and reinstall GS v1.02. Then before starting GS up for the first time I'd delete the settings.txt file.

Have you tried to install the Haettenschweiler.ttf font that's in the Grand Strategy folder? You install it from the control panel.

beyond 45?

if I choose the option to not stop the war in 45, will this mod allow that?

I haven't tried that. The victory conditions are set for checking victory at the end of May 1945. So if you have a game going on beyond May 1945 you won't have any calculated victory conditions. But with games going on beyond 1945 you probably play till the other side has surrendered.

But I don't think the Axis side has a chance if these are the victory conditions. The Allies will gain the initiative in 1943 or so and it will be very difficult for the Axis to force all Allied major powers to surrender. E. g. landing in USA with the invasion limits is going to be very difficult.
