You are persistent and resourceful. I am convinced that you will bring the Numidians to their knees. Slaves and cattle can only be exchanged for prestige in the next mission; I cannot change that.

Damn it, now I have enough troops but not enough moves, literally a couple of moves, while the AI shows incredible resilience in defending important cities, and random plays against me forever. But I probably need to play even faster or cheat to get a couple more moves, because the game should be fun first and foremost.

So what? You can use cheat codes to play a few more rounds; I don't see a problem with that.
I designed many missions in this campaign so that you can't just play through everything in one go. Sometimes it takes more than one attempt to develop the right tactics and put together the right mix of units.

As soon as I lose the last of my patience, I'll use the cheat code ))) For now, I'm training hard )))
The faster I go, the tougher the enemies get—it's a real paradox.

The hexes there are very inconvenient for manoeuvring.
Finally, I found my tactics for completing this mission ) Let's move on, because there's a mutiny behind us )))
After rushing to suppress the mercenaries' rebellion, it was a pleasure to take my time doing so ))) To be continued!!!!

Oh, you are facing the Battle of Agma, I am curious to see how you will solve this task.

The rebels were scattered and destroyed, and Carthaginian police order was restored in the captured cities! It's difficult to quickly cross rivers without bridge engineers ))) Now we have a pirate island ahead of us! The heavy cavalry, which represents the tank class here, is good and sometimes allows you to cut through the enemy's defences even better than in the vanilla original game when using real tanks )))
The pirate and rebel fleet has been defeated. We landed, but thanks to a random event that didn't go my way, I lost a couple of elite units. But we landed and punished those bloodthirsty enemies. Now I have to cross the river, where enemy hordes await us, but we will sell our cattle and slaves and set off on a long journey, which, as I understand it, is fraught with danger at every turn.

Unfortunately, during the Battle of Agma I had the bad luck that I only managed to get my troops across the river from the north on my second test run, by withdrawing all remaining support forces from the south and, with combined strength, fighting to clear a crossing. I also didn’t have as much cavalry as you did. In the scenario ‘Hamilcar’, Hamilcar Barca appears; from this point on he must survive, as in some missions his presence is mandatory.
Your Numidian cavalry with its hero that grants extra range is worth its weight in gold.

I'm just about to embark on this mission, but I'm curious to know how ancient warriors crossed rivers and so on.

So you need to make ancient teams of pontoon builders and bridge builders )

I’ve already planned the bridge builders, at least for the Romans, but at the moment they only exist as an idea and a sketch. I’m not yet sure what their final appearance should look like.

Very nice. Yes, they are very expensive – I’d compare their strength and cost to a Tiger tank, or an IS-2 if you prefer. There shouldn’t be too many of them on the battlefield, but be careful: they may be powerful, yet they are still vulnerable. You might discover that sooner or later.
In fact, Hamilcar did employ war elephants in the fighting against the mercenary rebels. It had almost become a ritual to have the surviving prisoners trampled or crushed to death by elephants after the battle. The battle fought at the river was modeled on a real historical engagement at the River Bagradas, south of Utica.

Oh Niko, thank you very much, the units look great.

Maybe you have an idea of what the bridge pioneers could look like – my thought is to represent them once as a transport unit and, using the switch function, as a completed bridge.

I didn't want to overflow the topic, i posted a few samples. The whole package is send to you.
.
For the bridge engineers, this is a sample i will use in Fantasy Corps:

I also opted for switchable units. The primary is the transport (class 1) and the nopurchase is the bridge (class 6)

I already replied to you. Okay, I can use that as an idea and a template. I'll replace the mammoth

, of course, and the stone bridge with wood. That's something I can work with.

I liked this mission. The commander was also delivered to the marked hex. We captured livestock and slaves, which we will now sell to make our army even stronger.
I don't have any elephants yet, as I haven't captured much livestock or slaves ))) I like this business for gaining prestige, which in this game acts as a liquid and convertible currency )))

In later campaigns, such as the Celtic campaign, additional sources of income are introduced, such as the plundering of temples.
