Hmmm odd surely you should be playing MarkL or Andercos? Why Deeter?

After winning my initial game, I never got a response from my next opponent. When I contacted Angus about this, he recommended I play deeter, who apparently had the same issue. And as far as he could tell, none of the other players in the losers bracket had bothered to continue.

So, I was just following his directions.

I presume you had a chat with MarkL as he is your team mate in the other tourney? Do they know they have to play further?

I didn't until my Oppo got in touch with me.

You can post quarter-final challenges now. The matches are:

Kroche v Questar17
Janohito v Dreddradish
tyronec v random27
Aetius39 v angusosborne

and for the Repechage (the draw is further down the google sheet in the link)

Karvon v ZeCid
markleslie v anderarcos11
Holien v mberisso
deeter v Bodhran

Please post the challenges in this thread so I can see the battles are underway. Happy hacking!
The brackets were announced by Angus back in late Nov. I posted a challenge and pm'ed my opponent who never responded. I occasionally checked the forum but only saw results being posted for the winners' side of the bracket. The rest is as I stated previously.

Looking at the spreadsheet today, I see you did get your opponent to play and advanced, so it looks like you should play deeter, who's opponent no-showed, as you guys are on the same side of the bracket.

I have not contacted any other players and not sure what contact Angus has had.

In hindsight I should not have relied on the entrants reading the forum thread: I should have PMed the draw for further rounds (which is what I did for the final). I think the players who qualified were excited enough to follow along, but most of those who didn't were not.

The other lesson is that it's probably not worthwhile to have consolation games.

Final - deployment

Thracian vs Seleucid.
The Seleucids have a preponderance of quality troops: 8 Pikes (3 vet), 4 Xystophori, 1 Warband and an elephant against my 5 Superior Warbands and a load of mediocre mediums. Not sure how to play this... We do have a bit more firepower.

Turn 6, all very cagey - not a shot been fired yet.

There have been a few routs from skirmishing, most as a result of evading units getting caught. Main battle not joined yet.
On the left the Thracians are about to lose a noble cav and some light troops, while a lancer has been caught and pinned downhill.
The center is mostly a standoff, but not for long as the Thracians have advanced off one hill.
On the right the pikes are blocked by rough terrain while the lights and mediums supported by cav fight it out.

Shouldn't be long now one way or the other. The Seleucids have one flank charge set up and the Thracians maybe three to five next turn if they are lucky, so it all depends which flanked units hold out the longest.

T14.
The Seleucids got a frag and subsequent rout from their their flank charge while the Thracians have a frag and a disrupt on pike blocks plus a fragged elephant. Still in the balance as there is likely to be more damage to both sides this turn.

T16.
Another Thracian warband gone but under threat of flank charges the center 3 pike blocks have squared up. The Seleucid warband on the hill charged the Thracian spears and disrupted them but in turn got flank charged and routed by another warband which pursued into the pike block behind the hill.

And that was it, game over when a Thracian warband rallied with the score at 47-22.

Good game to Questar, really the map was very much in the Thracian favor. The Seleucids had to attack because they were outnumbered in firepower and lights but that meant attacking uphill and also allowed the Thracians to screen off areas of the map where there were was terrain and thereby get something of a double encirclement.

Thanks to angusosborne for organising, has been a lot of fun and an interesting format.
