Round 4: Attack declarations

by kronenblatt
Order of attack declarations
- TomoeGozen (Babylonian) (68): Oct. 30
- kronenblatt (Assyrian) (61): Oct. 31
- rbodleyscott (Median) (60 45): Nov. 1
- SnuggleBunnies (Egyptian) (60): Nov. 2
- deeter (Lydian) (59): Nov. 3
- Attack declarations are posted in this thread.
- You must always declare one conquest attack by your major power and are in addition free to (but don't have to) declare either one raid attack by a tribal power or one revolt attack by one minor power.
- Please express attack declarations in the way the following examples show:
- Conquest: Assyrian attack upon Babylonian Sippar (10) from Ninive (9).
- Raid: Scythian attack upon Median Ecbatana (13) from homelands.
- Raid: Scythian attack upon Median Ecbatana (13) from homelands, with middle-eastern agricultural terrain. (in case you want middle-eastern agricultural terrain and not pot luck, an option only available in raids.)
- Revolt: Hebrew attack upon Egyptian Jerusalem (31).
- Punitive Expedition: Assyrian attack upon Arabs.
- Date (midnight CET+3 (Jerusalem) time) above indicates deadline, after which opportunity for you to declare attack is forfeited and the player next in line may declare his attack.
- Once you have declared an attack, please PM the player next in line, who will then be free to declare his attack, up to his deadline, so we all don't need to wait for each player's deadline.

Conquest: Median attack on Babylonian Awan (47) from Ecbatana (13).
Awan (47) is already a province-at-stake due to TomoeGozen's
conquest attack upon you and thus cannot be attacked.

Ah, inspired by SnuggleBunnies, I'll be using Phoenician allies in my Conquest attack (while I still can...)

Can I not use my Hebrew allies in either of these battles, especially 1b, given the character of many revolts against empires also being civil wars amongst conflicting local factions?

Yes, you can, if you want to. I just didn't specify that since you're setting up those battles.
The rules state: "
a major power is allowed to use any minor power as ally (and then always with the major power itself as the main army) in all the battles it is fighting as long as it controls both provinces of that minor power."

Hi Andreas,
It is worth noting that the system defaults to a Wide battlefield if you set it up as 1240 vs 1200 points.
Having already had two attempts to set up the challenge correctly, I could not raise the will to redo it again after I noticed that. I will if you absolutely insist, but Jack will cream me anyway with Egyptians + Hebrews vs Cypriotes.
Perhaps the campaign rules should be changed to match the default width for 1240 vs 1200? Or perhaps the narrower width is required to get the effect you want? (Although I very much doubt it will make any difference to the incidence of "corner sitting".)
Cheers,
Richard

Hi there. No need to set up again, unless Jack wants you to.
I'm aware of the problem of defaulting to higher width when increasing to e.g. 1240. Since I'd like to keep the setup as an adjusted 1200 vs 1200 at 32x32, I may change it to 1200 vs 1160 instead (i.e., reducing FP by 40 instead of increasing), because that would hopefully keep width at 32. (And correspondingly to 1600 vs 1540 at 40x32 instead.)

Medes won 47-21 - in significant part due to some handy irrigation ditches.
Good game.
