Aetius39 (Romans I) defeats Olin (Franks) 44-19

Tough fight for the Franks; seemed they were up against Romans from 170 AD^^!

Since none of us have heard from MadMaxBot, whether responding to PMs or playing game turns, it's been decided to re-introduce kronenblatt (two times eliminated already), taking over MadMaxBot's provinces and (Roman III) army but retaining the green color:
  • TomoeGozen: orange faction with Romans V army.
  • Aetius39: purple faction with Romans I army.
  • olin0111: blue faction with Romans IV army.
  • kronenblatt: green faction with Romans III army.
The following remaining battles to be concluded as follows:
1B. Aetius39 (Iazyges, 1600 FP) attacks kronenblatt (Romans III, 1575 FP) in Noricum IX.
2A. kronenblatt (Romans III, 1575 FP) attacks olin0111 ((Romans IV, 1564 FP) in Macedonia XVII.
2B. kronenblatt (Alamans, 1600 FP) attacks Aetius39 (Romans I, 1596 FP) in Germania Superior V.
4. TomoeGozen (Romans V, 1562 FP) attacks kronenblatt (Romans III, 1575 FP) in Italia XIII.

The Romans of TomoeGozen's faction have triumphed in Italia over the faction of kronenblatt , when , in a move that won't surprise anyone , the CinC of kronenblatt's army died , stabbed in the back as he fled from another combat that he probably should have avoided :-)
At least in this one I was actually leading at the time so I don't feel quite so bad.... (Romans III - 39% losses to Romans V 28% losses)
Thanks Andreas for another interesting and fun game.

Thanks for fun game! You were on the verge of winning anyway. But I really need to rein in my C-in-C's (it's that C-in-C charge finger of mine) because as you correctly said: "I would start to worry about being asked to lead one of your armies..." :) Next time (if there's a next time...).

Here's a close-up of the innocent C-in-C routing and shouting "parley!". If you look closely at the second guy to the right in the pursuing party, you'll see a familiar face with a loser's green cloak underneath the winner's red, and a very shiny and sharp blade... Treacherous Betrayus...

You sincerely believe I'd lose my battle and head otherwise?!?

An Empire in Flames - Round IV: attack declarations

Posted: Sun Aug 22, 2021 2:40 pm
by kronenblatt
Round IV (266 AD)

Order of attack declarations:
1. Doyley50: Aug. 22
2. Aetius39: Aug. 23
3. kronenblatt: Aug. 24
4. TomoeGozen: Aug. 25

Each player shall make two attack declarations upon other players' Roman factions (see Attacks in rules):
I. One conquest attack by his Roman faction.
II. One raid attack by any non-Roman faction.

Once attack declarations have been made, battles are resolved simultaneously during a three-week period of Aug. 27 - Sep. 17 (see Battles in the rules), or earlier if attack declarations are concluded before Aug. 25. (If all battles have been resolved before that, round V may commence earlier, but plan for first order of round V's attack declarations on Sep. 28).

Please note that:
  • Franks, Iazyges and Alamans lost raid attacks the previous round and are thus not allowed to make any raid attacks this round.
  • A number of provinces are now looted by certain non-Roman factions (see earlier post and map), with provinces looted from land raids allowing for raids deeper into the Roman empire by these factions.
  • Attack declaration shall be made in posts in this thread.
  • Rules are found in second post of this thread.
  • Date (midnight CET (Rome) time) above indicates deadline, after which opportunity to declare attacks is forfeited and the player next in line may declare attacks.
  • If a player above has announced his attacks, then the player next in line is free and is encouraged to announce attacks too, up to his deadline, i.e., if the players before you have announced attacks, don't wait for your deadline to announce your own attacks but instead do so speedily so battles can start as soon as possible.

Please note the following
  • Battles are resolved simultaneously during a three-week period of Aug. 24 - Sep. 14.
  • The defender above creates the challenge, also deciding the map terrain for the province in question.
  • All battles are 24 turns, 40 x 32 and use Remove the Head (i.e., the battle will end also when one side’s C-in-C falls in battle with that side becoming the loser).
  • No map re-rolls are allowed.
  • Make sure you have An Empire in Flames v2 module downloaded and installed.
  • When setting up the challenge in-game, in Multiplayer Lobby under My Challenges, through pressing New Challenge and then Create Skirmish, choose Select Another Module, mark An Empire in Flames v2 and click LAUNCH. The factions can now be chosen for the battle when creating the challenge.
  • The defender reports the battle result once concluded: who's victor and loser (if any), always specifying the incurred casualties and whether any faction's C-in-C fell in battle.
Enjoy! Any questions? Please post them here.
