3D->2D switch configuration

Could you Please make the switch between the 3D and 2D views configurable?
I bet this whole 2D thing is only there because displaying the whole map in 3D would cause too much load and result in FPS drop.
I would like to be seamlessly zoom out and in on areas without any change in the manner of display - I am used to the 3D view, I just can't feel the distances in the 2D view. It is totally useless to me, still, I am bumping my head every minute to this limitation when the screen switches to 2D. It is annoying to say the least.
This is a common problem with 3D games - usually there is a hard zoom out limit which usually I can happily hack with some .ini file settings. I have a top rig with a big 4K monitor, it really sucks that the minimum hex size I can get is 3cm. That is around the maximum I would like to see.

I'm in the reverse, the 3D view is totally useless to me.
And this 2D is badly done, it was better in PC1. PC2 is a let down, graphically.
So, at now I don't play, waiting for a patch making better the 2D view.

So, we would both benefit from a setting on what zoom level to switch to the other view.
Difference is that I would set it to 0, while you would set it to infinity.

idem for me. 3D is really good but 2D is useless.
