Taking Over For a New Faction in MP

I thought that I read/heard that in MP games a player could take control of a different faction if his original faction got removed. Is this true, or am I hallucinating this? It certainly wouldn't be my first hallucination! :oops: I have looked through the manual and quickly reviewed the forums and found nothing on this. I'm asking because I am in a 6 person MP game and one of the players is the Belgae...and by Turn 30 he is on the verge of extinction. It would be sad if his game was over, especially this early. Is there anything that we can do?

I think this is under consideration for the reasons you mention but not at the moment

one player being knocked out doesn't end the game for the others - except by your own choices

Thanks for the reply loki100! So you don't recall this being part of the original release? I would have bet my paycheck that I saw/read/heard something about this, including Pocus talking about it on a forum. Understood about a player getting knocked out, just didn't want him to get knocked out....yet. :twisted:

If I recall we stumbled on this issue late in the beta testing. Most of the early MP games were marked by excessively polite players and then someone took a weak faction and got stomped by the AI. So it raised this as something to change - which it will, but not sure when. As ever between bugs and enhancements and time available there are trade offs.

Totally understand about priorities and all that. There are plenty of things that can/should be addressed, but at the same time I wanted to make sure I wasn't completely losing my sanity. I will just have to tell my opponent (who is like a brother to me) to not suck next time! :lol: Thanks again!

V1.03 changelog indicates: - All nations are 'switchable' once they appear on the map

Does this include changing factions for an MP game? :? I saw the option in my single player game, but not for the MP game.
