Continuing Pursuit

When continuing pursuit in the JAP, can you opt not to perform a CMT to stop pursuit?

Essentially, sometimes you may want to continue pursuit and I'm wondering if the CMT to stop pursuing is an option or a requirement.

The CMT to not pursue is optional.
