Tutorial messages hang, appear very slowly, then stop appear

Post by vaalen »

In playing the first tutorial, I read the message, then click on the place to close it. The next message takes a long time to appear. I read it, click on it to close, then wait a number of seconds for the next message. after about seven messages, no further message would appear, and the tutorial just hung.

Am I doing something wrong? It there another way to move to the next tutorial message?

Any help will be appreciated.

have you altered your game speed in game?

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just attach it to your post with first adding the file to a zip, which is then permitted to attach to the forum

can always take a look at your spec / hardware and see if anything there is causing it etc if you wish

For someone as ignorant of computers as I am, running the test is something I would prefer to avoid if possible.

I did not change the game speed. However, I did change to resolution to the lowest setting possible. I also made some changes that increased the size of the letters, as suggested by Pip in a post on the matrix forum about my accessibility issues.

I checked the game speed in the options menu. it is at one hundred percent.

Is there a way to alter the game speed in game? It is possible I might have done so inadvertently. IF there is a way other than using the options menu, what is it?

I appreciate your following up with Pip or the developer.

I am afraid this is Pip's remit, not mine, too technical for me. However, I am moving this thread to tech support, where he is more likely to see it.

Without knowing the system specs, it is going to be hard to know if the game is just very slow for you, or if something else is going on.

The first thing I would try is deleting your OPTIONS.TXT file (from My Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2). This will reset any mis-set options.

Just knowing your video card and CPU would help though :)

Cheers

Hi Pip,

I have a Digital Storm gaming computer, and a high end video card. It handles games far more demanding than this one with no problem.

However, I tried your suggestion about deleting the opt file, and the messages work fine now. I must have reset something without knowing it.

I want to thank you again for your prompt responses to my problems with the game, and your very helpful solutions, which work.

I am very impressed, and I hope Slitherine appreciates you.

Regards,

Vaalen
