Two questions

Post by NightPhoenix »

Hello,

First of all i want to thank the developers for making another great DLC for this game, keep it up!
I have a few questions concerning the new Blitzkrieg DLC and hope someone might be able to answer them.

1: I have seen messages about taking your core forces with you to the next DLC (I don't think it's a secret more of the German campaign will be covered in the future) I was wondering though whether we will also be able to take with us our specializations, specialization points, and/or requisition points. Because that makes the difference between spending at least all the points now in this DLC, or saving them up for something else in a future DLC.

2: I noticed while buying the Waffen SS specialization that (besides the SS-Wiking special unit) no special SS units were buyable. For example the Das Reich division which was present in Army Group Center. Is there any special way to acquire this, or do we have to rename the troops to act as if these were those units? Seen the limited amount of requisition points and deployment points you have for the Waffen SS troops, i was wondering if it is worth it to save those requisition points to buy any specialized troops in the future or to just buy the regular troops now.

Thanks for taking the time to check out the questions, and i hope someone might shed some light on these issues. ;)

Ps. I noticed while playing the Greece scenario that, while the secondary objective (capture Ioannina in 20 turns) said that cutting off the Greek forces would allow the Italians to conduct their own offensive, the Italians actually did not move their units at all for the entire scenario, even while meeting the criteria for this victory objective. (not that i think their offensive would be that great seeing how few troops they have, and yes i did get the secondary objective to save the Italians in Albania in Yugoslavia) This might get you in serious trouble, since i was expecting the Italians to destroy/attack some of the Greek forces near their lines. Since you need to destroy almost all the Greek forces in the scenario this can cause some serious trouble if most of your forces go towards Athens.

1) At the moment only units can be carried over to another campaign (at full purchase cost to reactivate them). Resources and Specialisation points would never be carried over because it would have a huge impact on balance/difficulty level. We could look into specialisations carrying over if that means they replace specs that are already unlocked at the start of the campaign (like Tank School in Blitzkrieg). But right now they don't.

2) Besides the unique Wiking unit it's up to you to rename units or not. Currently their unit types do not different from the ddefault German units. Even with the limited amount of units they can deploy it still adds a seperate pool of resources and income however, basically giving you a contant stream of free units/replacements.

@Greece: the Italians should certainly attack if you complete that objective (in time). As long as you can keep the Greeks cut from supplies and provide some (air) assistance the Italians should be capable of destroying the Greek defense in front of them. Are you sure you achieved the objective in time?

Wow, thanks for the fast reply.

Good to know i should be spending those specialisation points not save them. ;) Same for those Waffen SS units.

I did get the objective in turn 12/13 and even made sure to capture the two remaining towns the Greek had after being cut off, but during the whole time they didn't do anything. I guess ultimately it didn't matter that much, though if other people had the same, it might be something to look out for, so i thought i'd mention it. Unfortunately i don't have a safe file to back it up since i just moved on afterwards. ;)

Thanks for the time and trouble though,

Cheers

I have to report that I experienced the same problem with the Greece scenario. One Italian unit attacked in an early turn, got mauled badly, and retreated. When I achieved the objective in time, the event was triggered, but the Italians did not start moving until several turns later, even though the Greeks were undersupplied. Only a couple of units were committed, but did not attack in any serious fashion and did not destroy a single Greek unit, even though I took another supply point away from the Greeks and reduced their organisation further.
