US marines - repairing airfields/infrastructure?

Post by wshu »

I thought I read that engineers and Seabees can repair airfields by sitting on top of them - is that true only for main airfields and not for "Fighter Strips"? Seeing as how I can't move my guys onto the fighter strip.

Thanks.

Yes, this engineer ability is only for repairing the land/air supply generated by city/airfield hexes. I suppose it makes sense to give Airstrips (the unit) a default repair ability, probably +1 strength per turn.

Maybe give engineer type units the ability to repair damaged airstrips? Similar to support ships.

Seabees built a new airstrip at Munda Point, New Georgia, in less than a week.http://archives.chicagotribune.com/1943 ... days-6-hrs

So, is there a way to build an airfield in the game? Lord knows that it is something of a necessity in the Marines Campaign ... no carriers, no airstrip = no airplanes, unless you wait until the last 12 turns so that they don't run out of fuel. I would suggest some kind of limited capability for Seabees and/or engineers. Would be a good feature.

You need to use the exit points at the edge of the map (the ones in your colour, green). Airplanes are moved to your reserves and refueled, ready to be deployed again on the next turn.

It is up to the designer to provide a construction group or two to allow the player to build an airstrip.
You can't purchase these units.
