Version 1.08 CTD

Post by Gunja »

Hello,

today I installed the new 1.08 patch and I tried to replay the tutorial missions. In the third mission I can't get past the first turn. Everytime I press end turn the game crashes and returns to the desktop. The autosave files seem to be corrupt and cannot be loaded.
I tried to experiment a little with the army composition, but the result is the same. A file I saved after recruiting new units but before hitting end turn (called "Spiel1") is also corrupt. Only the file I saved before recruiting any new units ("Death Mire Tutorial 3, Turn 1") I can reload.
I attached all the files, maybe this helps to figure out, what is wrong - based on the numbers of CTD reports, I guess this version is not really stable at the moment, or am I mistaken?

UPDATE: I did another test run and found out the following. The problem seems to be that the save files in the third missions are somehow always corrupt. So if I don't load a save file from the third mission but instead play from the beginning or - interestingly enough - I load a save game from the second mission and than continue the campaign I can play the the third mission just fine (I tried it up to the fourth turn or so). When I save a game within the third mission and then load it, I can`t end the turn without a CTD. Hope this helps.

Looks like you have the same issue I encountered. You can zip files to upload and it will work.

Thank you, Shrike. I added the save files in a zip-file as you suggested. Can you play the first mission of the main campaign, when you do not reload it?

I somehow managed to get passed the crashes by reloading an earlier save game. Had to try quite a few before it worked.

But there are still scenarios in which you just can`t save the game, without corrupting the save file, right? I mean, I started the tutorial from the beginning and there is just no way to save an reload the third mission. Or did you find some way to work around it, except for just not saving in certain missions?
It feels a bit annoying that you would have to check upon start every mission, if it is saveable and otherwise only start it, if you are sure, you have the time to finish it. And with a version this unstable it just no fun to play, because you never know , if it might crash. I hope to hear something from the support soon, otherwise it might be wise to downgrade (i.e. reinstall and install the previous patch) only.

Guys, sorry for this problem. We think we have fixed it. The fix has been deployed to Steam, and for non-Steam version you can grab hotfix here:

Note that any saved games created by faulty version are corrupted, so they won't work even with the fix. But otherwise, the issue should disappear. Let us know if you still have problems.
