In our play group I faced an army like that, mostly long bow with field defences. The knights got slaughtered when they attempted a frontal assault of the bowmen. That was on lesson hard learned for the knights :?

One thing I have been curious about is how (from an effectiveness PoV) to be field the English Heavy Foot.

I think that Heavily Armoured/Superior is expensive overkill, espeically in period when so much foot is heavy weapons armed. This leads me to think the Armoured/Superior is a solid choice but it may be worth de-emphasizing the heavy foot even more and going with Armoured/Average to save AP.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I would definitely go for Armoured/Superior if playing within period.

Out of period Heavily Armoured/Superior may be better because you may have to fight Roman armoured skilled swordsmen. The armour advantage will cancel out the weapon advantage.

Interesting I was thinking the heavy armour would help face off knights. But of course with this much bow most of the knights are pin cushions so I see your thinking makes sense.

Heavy armour makes no difference against knights because HW cancels out the enemy armour advantage.
