Jonathan Tech Query

Post by pipfromslitherine »

I have downloaded LegionArena Demo . The introduction works fine but when it gets to the game the screen goes black and the monitor makes a click like if trying to change resolution, but then a window pops up saying that legionArena.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close . Can you help?

Jonathan
I moved your query from the sticky so it was simpler for us to track :).

Can you provide us with your system configuration, windows version, graphics card, sound card, etc. I would also recommend as a first step making sure you have the most up to date version of the drivers for your graphics card. If that doesn't do the trick we can try some more things to get you playing.

Cheers

The first thing I would ask you to check is that you have not suffered from the DirectX 9.0c install problem. Can you run dxdiag (go to Start->Run type dxdiag and enter). At the bottom of the first page you will see the specific DX version you have installed. It should read 4.09.0000.0904.

You should also make sure you have the latest drivers available for your graphics chipset. The Intel 8210 doesn't seem to be a graphics controller. From what I can tell that spec has an Intel 810, which is a fairly old chipset, so perhaps you mean the 82810 chipset? The latest drivers for this is at http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts ... n&lang=eng but they are from 2002, so that's not too encouraging...

It may well be that your system is a little too old to get the game running. It's really very hard to keep compatible with drivers which are 3 years old... :(

Hi Pip,
yes yor're right I meant Intel 82810, and the DirectX 9.0c is 4.09.0000.0904.

The graphic drivers there are loads of them they are in dll or sys file format , there all from 2001 while the sound drivers the latest ones are from 2004 .

Does this mean I need to buy a more powerful graphic card?

I'm afraid so. Even if we could get Arena to run on an 810, it would probably be far too slow to actually play. Sorry! The rest of the system might struggle a little too, a 1GHz Celeron is a lot less powerful than the 1GHz P3 we have as our min spec...

Cheers
