Any approximate date for new tech? esp..cities & wonders

Post by ikki »

...and lots of rambling, lol

Playing byblos, liberally building temples, doctors and libraries inyto every town.
In the beginning i had bronze, animals.. ie getting to build stables.. organisation etc..

But when can i build cities?
I have a dozen large towns built out (almost) to the max, and id really like to have my settlements perfected: the 3 civ buildings, stables+++, 3 resource and a wonder :)

Damn i love those na´herin wagons...!! just massacering the enemys 8-prole armies.. (too bad i didnt figure out at first stables are a separate building... and burned a dozen baracks)

Took a while for me to figure out the resource system aswell, which meand i had to redesign a large part of the villages too.. burning gathering points that dont make any sense. Like 3+ BM^3 when that city had wood -7... or the one with BM^8 i had dedicated to food^4.. hahah!

Oh yeah, and constantly short on BM too.
Making maybe 1700, and buying another 2000 :D

Oh yeah, are the forts meant to be near useless?
Because I dont like to keep armies in my cities, and even if theres a garrison of 3, but no army.... they wont put up a fight. Which sucks big time.
So i burnt my forts, making place for moire economy and stables.

Would be nice to get guilds and the rest of the university building tree too towards universal education.. along with universal healthcare.
Temple complexes would be nice too.

I also play this game and I was wondering the same thing. I'm playing the Judeans, though.

My first thought was that research is different for every nation, but I don't think so anymore. It seems random to me, I got tech for heavy infantry really early, but I still don't have heavy cavalry, and I have almost conquered the world.

You're right about the chariot archers, I still have this large full gold star squad of them somewhere... I just forgot where they are because my heavy infantry is stealing the show.

ohwell just got ink and makeup.. paving way for temple complexes and guilds.
Well atleast that leaves me with something else to do while im wiping out all competing life in greater egypt ;)

Played Knights Of Honor?
Its very similar... but a bit different still.
Anyway there the teutonic knights have their ... you guessed it.. teutonic knights that basically walk all over everything -infantry, knights, forts, archers.. you name it.
I doubt those seapeople warbands can be that good.

Also got that patch.
Sure got a bit irritating to click 500 times to change the trade policy every turn.. lol
Now I can get cheap BM consistently.. just buying every second turn in huge bulk ;)

Now im waituing and hoping for a really bad harvest.. so i can dump my enormous food wealth ~30K for maybe 4 gold each..
For more BM, what else? ;)

I've never played Knights of Honor, as I said in my topic, I don't get much time to play so I only play Chariots of War. The Teutonic Knights you described sound really unfair, though.
And my Sea People Warbands are great. I have a few full gold star veteran squads of them left somewhere in the south and one or two participating in the fighting against the Sherihumi.

And what patch are you talking about, I didn't know there was any patch... And when I trade I just right-click on what I want to buy. Fast enough that way.

You shouldn't hope for a bad year, and if you get a bad year, save your food! I have more than 600,000 units of food just in case something bad happens.

Yeah, they nerfed the teutonic knight big time in their patch.

Check downloads, second page.
There is a link to the COW patch there.

I got rid of taxes and maximised foodeating.. but demand 125% effort.
The population is jubilant.. looks like a all win solution.
Especially as food consumption didnt increase that much.

And figured out to just occasionally buy 5000 BM, then 0 it when the price rises.
The 45K im getting from my goldmines is more than enough to cover a 1/2 months purchase of 5000 BM.
Thats one thing the patch does.. ctrl+click to change amounts by 100, instead of by 1.

Look at the map.

Image

Some of those cities are at content. And taxes are 0. I give max food possible to every worker. I demand 75% effective working. But still...

And no! I'm not talking about towns I recently captured!

Hmm... got a bigger one, no tax (althought seem to be able to tax 12 without much negative effect) 125% and max food.
I also build up the health+temples+universities in each town. Also very busy building everything.. like ever bigger cities.
No problems at all, despite being even bigger (lacking just one city).
Ive got 3-8 troops guarding the cities, later on started using the squads as missiles.. whenever they took something i left them there, so half of anatolia and the whole of persia this is true.
