Scapa & Malta & Giberoto's airport

Post by Morris »

In several of my recent pbems , I have experienced several times of losing Scapa ,Malta,Giberoto by attacked by a para from the airport beside it . It seems a little bit unreasonable . Why Allies are not able to deploy or move troops to defence there ? But meanwhile the Axis can jump a para on it & attack the city . At least Allies should deploy a Gar on it . :)

We can't change this or it would become completely impossible to capture these fortresses. E. g. Operation Hercules would require a paradrop on Malta to succeed. With the limitations to the game engine (only 1 unit per hex) we can't have the para land in the occupied hex.

So in GS you first need to clear the adjacent airfield so you get a hex adjacent to the fortress to paradrop into. Only paratroopers are allowed to land in airfields except air units, of course.

So this is working as intended based upon the game engine limitations.

I think If Allies want to defend these fortress , they will send reinforcement to there . Then it is surely be difficult or even impossible to take it . Maybe we can make Allies to pay a price the transfer a troop on the airport ( double transfer fee for per unit).

Anyway , it is not a fatal problem . I am personally ok for the present rules since I believe the Allies has the advantage in present game . :)
