Placing units irritation

Post by davetheroad »

In the production queue i have two units ready to deploy, a UK commander followed by a russian corps.

I do NOT want to deploy the commander this turn but it blocks the deployment of the russian corps

The turn is autumn 1942 and the commander is there because he recovered from wounds received earlier.

i had to deploy the commander in a place i did not want just to get the russian corps.

Unless i am missing something what is needed here is a way of shuffling the ready queue or selecting the unit to deploy by clicking it.

Dave, this is an odd and intermittent issue. Several of us have reported it, but we can't reproduce it.

Supposedly, the game is able to sense when you cannot deploy a unit, and move it to the back of the queue for the current turn. But of course it has no way to tell when you can deploy a unit, but don't want to.

I agree, there needs to be some way of manually shuffling the queue.

An easy solution would be to always put a leader LAST of units eligible to be deployed this turn.
Then they can't block any land, air or naval units. It's only leaders you may want to postpone
placing on the map. Since it will always be last then you can decide to not place it and it will
again be last in the queue the next turn.

I think the programmers may implement this easy change without having to make a shuffle
the deployment queue routine (although it's a good idea to make in the long run). Maybe we
can see this easy change for the next patch? It will solve the main issue without a need for
a lot of programming.

There are occasionally cases where the order of unit placement becomes significant - such as having more reinforcements than [desired] city slots. Example USSR has 3 reinforcements and 2 spaces by Perm - it should be possable to place the 2nd and 3rd reinforcement and keep the first untill next turn.

Not true. US naval units units prior to January 1942 are another example.
