Italian unit upgrades

It seems to me there is no incentive at all to keep your Italian units. They are weaker, and there is NO upgrades in equipment at all for them. I was thinking about this, and why cant they get captured equipment, or for infantry at least, why not airborne troops? I am at Basra and my Italian units are still using equipment from 1941. Wouldn't the Germans have shared some tech with them by this point? If this had really happened. Maybe given them all the captured British equipment? For me upgraded equipment is a big part of the game! I have Tigers now and they have their tank from 1941..

Just a thought.
