Shooting on early tercios

Post by AndrewMoray »

Hi,

I have done a couple of games with Caroline Imperialist this week end, and I have fielded some Spanish early tercios. As I have not found the answer in the rulebook, I would like to ask something:

- muskets have a malus when shooting armoured infantry at long range
- tercios pikes are armoured
- tercios shot are unarmoured

do my opponent have a malus when shooting on the tercios with muuskets at long range or not? Or does he share his dice between shots and pikes?

Best regards

Hi Andrew,

See pages 121/122 for the Shooting POA priority.

Simplistically the POA's are taken as:-

1. By the armour class of the targets front rank
2. If a mixed BG with different armour classes, then the majority type.i.e in a normal P&S it would be the unarmoured shot.
3. If equal, then the lowest armour class i.e unarmoured first.

There is an exception for Swedish Brigades.

So for your early Tercio, there would be 2 unarmoured shot front rank bases and 2 armoured pike and therefore option 3 applies so the shooters shoot at evens i.e. hit on a 4, 5 or 6.

Hope that helps
