Italian Ostrogothic - Levies Question

For the image for the Levies in the It. Ostrogohic list there are five objects on the icon but one of them looks like a helmet laying on the ground. Any idea what that is supposed to depict? Did someone lose their head? ;)

Darn, Im downloadin the beta now and gettin like 5 kb's an hour. Maybe that item is a pet turtle? (kinda like how mobs sometimes have a poodle in their ranks lol)

LOL, that "helmet" is a dog of some mongrel variety.
