Couple of questions and a suggestion

Post by tevans6220 »

Sorry if my questions have already been asked but I couldn't find any answer.

1. What is the timescale for FoG? The reason I ask is that most of my DAG/AI games are lasting no more than 10 turns. Are those turns equal to 10 minutes? 15 minutes? At 10 minutes a battle would only last about 1 1/2 hours. At 15 minutes it would be 2 1/2 hours. 20 minutes would make it almost 3 1/2 hours. What's the timescale.

2. What does a hex represent in terms of feet, meters or yards?

3. How does the AI choose it's forces in a DAG game? Seems to me like it spends too many points on leaders and not enough on BG's. Is there a certain process for the way it deploys? Seems like it's just helter skelter with BG's deployed anywhere.

My one suggestion is in regard to Command Control. I suggest that any BG not within a Commander's command range not be allowed to move. Seems to me the way it is now leaders don't mean very much. By not allowing BG's to move unless withing command range leaders would become much more important and formations would become more compact.

Possible answers:

1 I believe its meant to be somewhat floating in that when armies are manevering , playing who blinks ist etc each turn likly represents "more" whereas when men are in hand to hand somewhat less. , but about 20 minutes a turn seems about right , on average

2 scale is based off missle ranges so around 50 yard/ hex

3 Agree, the AI force selection is , uh, not good. I hope they listen and allow us some day to chose our own premade armies for AI DAG battles, shouldnt be hard to implement, really just need a bigger drop down and a link to where players already save their own dag armies.

CnC: alot has been discussed about this without any consensus. Doudt it will happen as its not part of the TT game(where its not needed) It would be nice to see a mechanic where deep formations, maybe even having multiple battle lines are rewarded (at least when they historically should be) , without being too intrusive on players army design, play style etc.
