Fog of War and Other Options?
I've seen some posts that mention a FOW option. I only own the base game but don't see that option anywhere when I start a game. Do you have to own a certain expansion to have this feature? If so, which one? I'm getting a little confused with each expansion bringing something new to the game. Is there an easy chart somewhere that shows what new features come with each expansion? Don't need to understand the armies since that is easy enough, but the specific features would be nice.

Maybe I found my own answer in the readme file in the game directory, although disappointed.
◦ Line of sight/Fog of War functionality for Rise of Rome owners.
This statement leads me to believe you need this expansion. So to be clear, do I need to get this specific expansion or will any expansion have this included? Any plans in the future to make it part of the base game?

I don't understand why the Fog of War option should only be available with the Rise of Rome extension. I was led to believe that just the core game would give all options (except DAG) if you have version 1.40. Version 1.40 is supposed to include everything for the core game up to now. You would think that Fog of War option would be part of the main program and not part of just one army pac. If so that is pretty shakey.

Iain,
With that said, couple of questions:
1) Will you ever make it as part of the base game?
2) In other threads in other forums, people were asking was there any differences about picking expansions and I believe the answer was just army types. Since that doesn't seem to be really the case using this feature as an example, can some kind of document/table be put together which clearly shows what each expansion brings to the game? This feature alone might be a decision maker to some. For example, if I purchased the latest expansion, I would have been really disappointed to still find out FOW was not in the game. I'm wondering what other rules/features are specific to specific expansions.
Thanks.

Thanks I would appreciate it since appears something like that should be part of the core game. Or minimally if there could be some kind of guide the describes exactly what features or rules are implemented with each expansion. Not knowing that information limits my ability and desire to purchase expansions.iainmcneil wrote:I'll check in to it - I cant remember if/how it is locked so not sure what the answer is yet.

RoR definitely suffered originally from having the associated upgrade too tightly integrated with the RoR expansion so I could believe that it is tied to RoR.iainmcneil wrote:I'll check in to it - I cant remember if/how it is locked so not sure what the answer is yet.
At a minimum , I think this functionality should be available with any DAG expansion if it isn't included in the basic game after it's updated to an appropriate version. It certainly doesn't make sense to only make it available with RoR.

FoW works for me and i only got Immortal fire expansion. So looks like any expansion will do.batesmotel wrote:At a minimum , I think this functionality should be available with any DAG expansion if it isn't included in the basic game after it's updated to an appropriate version. Was there any reason this feature was not added to the base game? I just thought all features/rules would be available for everything without expansions. What other features/rules are specific to expansions? I wish this was clearer somewhere so I could specifically tell what I would get with the base game versus expansions.keithmartinsmith wrote:FOW works with any expansion.
