WTC FINAL - COMPLETED 8th January

The WTC Final has been completed with a win for Furor Gallico over Armchair Heroes.

Furor Gallico won two matches and lost one giving a final score of 10-6 in favour of the French team.

Many congratulations to both teams and thanks to all who participated.

Armchair Heroes losses 45 vs Furor Gallico losses 63

A very tough game. I managed to concentrate my missile fire on a few units which enabled me to rout them. One of Stefane's Thureophoroi unit with general was the hero of the game. He managed to pass 6 or 7 tests to stop an elephant general and a Thureo General from taking out enough units to have won the game earlier on and with a bigger margin. He played very well but the one big mistake he made was charging my HCH gen with another Thureo Gen. It disrupted and a few turns later routed. My final game in the first season of the WTC. I wish to thank all of my opponents, Slitherine, Triarii and Stefano but most importantly our team, a great bunch of guys

Furor Gallico losses 28 vs Armchair Heroes 53

i was opposed at a huge germanic army in a reduce terrain, lake on my left, step hill and forest on my right, hill on the middle of the map. i choose to go with seven overcosted knights because my weak infantry can't stand against her own. i sent a huge screen of light with all my medium troops on the right to attack in first place but seing the huge amount of opponents it was impossible, i take a defensive position and harass him. On my left i have nothing except few cavalry, the knights were in center wih heavy infantry in two line not all visible. I was hoping that my opponent move there to attack him in the open. And that happened ! not thinking i will have so many knights and suffering from fire, he make a general advance, at this time i sent my infantry and my second line of knights to attack.
First fight were good for me with some luck and i destroyed all his right wing, turning to attack his infantry center, my right manage to stand in good defensive terrain and dealing against superior enemy. It take a long time but his center was destroyed and our polish brothers in arms gain victory !

Period 2 : Bodhran vs Lydianed

Furor Gallico losses 32 vs Armchair Heroes 59

Lydianed had a maximum of Fanatics and skirmishers and was on rough ground. My strong point, my cavalry, had no chance.
The only positive point, my infantry, on my left wing, was facing the extremity of the Jewish line. So, I started a movement to the right (a decoy). All my cavalry, placed on my right wing, was positioned diagonally.
Lydianed advanced cautiously. On his wings, 2 lakes made any circumvention difficult or impossible. His skirmishers began to harass my cavalry. One party retreated while the other passed through my troops to stand to the left.
Once the Jewish line was advanced, I attacked quickly with all my infantry on the left, soon supported by horsemen passing behind the enemy lines. On the right, my riders dispersed to avoid shooting before returning to maintain a second front.
For a long time the battle was undecided. The riflemen wreaked havoc and Lydianed seized every opportunity with his infantry.
But little by little its right wing was falling and my cavalry could give its full measure. The victory was played in the very last laps.

Period 2 : Furor Gallico losses 50 vs Armchair Heroes 51

The battlefield was composed of a large plain in his middle , on the right a big hill and on the left near the viking deployement line , a forest bordered a middle hill next to a rough ground
Arab army was a mixed force of infantry and cavalry , viking army was quite only infantry with 3 superior cavs.
The arab plan was simple , a great force of cavalry followed by dailami and irregular rushed on the left whereas the arab foot lancers waited in the south east.
Thanks to great movements , the viking line managed to preserve the arabs cavs to take them by rear or flank , better than that , they pushed back their ennemy and killed a lot of men.
In the same time , battle in the south began and after several turns , arab infantry , rejoingned by cavs destroyed the vikings.

Thanks to my opponent , it was a great battle , i was under pressure , knowing the result of the other games , i knew i should not take a decisive defeat and i sometimes made moves in this purpose.
I have endured many feelings in the battle , because things didn t go like i ve wanted and it should have been the same for my opponent.

It seems that for this first edition , furor gallico is world team champion , like our motto says : IMPOSSIBLE NOT FOR FRENCH

As the captain of furor gallico , i would like to thank all the organisers of this event.
I thank all my teammates , dim30 , sennacherib , bodhran and sivispacem.
It is a superb team , and we have acted like a team since the beginning and for all the lenght of the tournament
Our opponents have always been respectul and it was a pleasure playing in this competition
I would like to thank the other french team, furia francese, we have trained together before the tournament and they supported us when they were eliminated
I would like to make a special thanks to lynx57 , the captain of furia francese , i sincerely believe that without him , and the creation of the french discord , we never have been champions.

From now , everybody knows the wrath of french soldiers : FUROR GALLICO

I confirm to all the players that we are already working to the next WTC planned for September 2022.

The Italian players, for example, are arranging a dedicated League for the composition of the teams.
