I would like to throw my 2 pennies worth into this discussion if I may and say that I agree with MR RBS regarding the fact that in a 15mm game of 800pts per side the 2 armies very rarley fill the table, a sympton of the rear support rule, agood rule IMHO, which encourages deeper, narrower deployment than we have all experienced with Dbm. How many games of Dbm have we seen or played in over the years where an army, particularly a "barbarian" one has strectched from short edge to short edge in a long thin line with little regard to rear support in an effort to stop a more mobile army getting around it.Now I know people will scream flank march but I'm talking about the vast majority of games where someone stays 6.5" away from a side edge and has a few elements facing off a potential flank march and then tries to fill the rest of the table with their army.
A recent game involving a Parthian army and a Galatian was fought in just a 3ft portion of the table due to the benefits of supporting both the Parthian Cataphracts and the Galatian warband(impact foot) leaving the rest of the table for my Parthian horse archers to ride around, something which would have proved difficult in Dbm, 2 ranks of Wb(s) will keep LH(f) busy all day with little risk to themselves.
Never underestimate the power of Rear Support Luke.
