I would suggest to upgrade Rudel to Fw190F, its more worthy and brings bigger survive chances.
I always rename the hero units to have their bonuses in their names: 9. Panzer +I+M+2A. Also the towed arty, or AT: 4. Arty (Mot-6), even naming the better upgrade possibiliy (horse+)

I think this is the answer
There were two things that helped me keep the overview on the strategic map:
1. use different markers for victory objectives (you can also change them on the tactical map by the way)
2. use blue icons for the Axis troops

The victory objectives have bigger golden rings around them:

By now, I play all PzC maps like this, even the GC East...

Thanks for the suggestion I need to find time to add theses modes
GC East! It will take me some time to start the GC again, it seems so easy comparing to BE.

It's very helpful to declutter some maps, especially the big ones...

Do you really think heroes make such a big difference / have such a big impact in this mod, i.e. given the total unit count?

For sure I agree that Rudel is helpful, e.g. around Malta or Leningrad or against tanks but other than that?

Absolutely, one of my major mistakes so far!
I did not treat them respectively, I was giving normal replacements, not building exp etc.
Heroes have a decisive role in Panzer Corps GCs and obviously to BE as well, which is 99 turns and a hero appears at 30 kills.
The core of the whole game is about heroes abilities.
For example all the above infantry units mentioned, they could have save me lots of trouble, If only I was paying some more attention.
I was devoured by the scenario and did not pay attention.

Also, because prestige is low, I should have try to allocate elite replacements for some units and these are the heroes

Right now, I can not rely to the majority of my infantry units in any front. Due to the obvious lack of prestige. :shock:
The vast majority of them being one star! While the enemy is at two stars.
This way I could have retained at least some decent hero units to fight with.

Now any enemy hit and I take lots of losses :shock: .

OK, thanks. This is interesting! Well, I agree on the value of heroes in the general base game for sure.

Whenever I play BE again, I may give some more attention to heroes then... will see...

Heroes make quite a difference and I always calculate with the hero units, depending what type of bonuses do they have.
Maybe the heros have more value in the first 70% of the game. Later their accomplishment will be lower.
Also with given type of units there is a big difference between 1, or 2 star units: AA, AT, fighter.

I used this tactic: collected them to places, where they were protected by AA (for example in the region of Paris), or could be hide from enemy air. Also filled to max fuel. When the report about bad weather comes, I transport them to lauch sites and fire them in the next good weather (no hostile air above them).

...but it is a very good magnet for enemy fighters: they occupy themselfes with it, make small casualties to it, but the do not make bigger casualties elsewhere. Night fighters and thr bf109-recon is also good for that.
