2 questions about shooting

Post by marioslaz »

Hi all,
we want to explore wars between Greeks and Persians, so I started to look Persian army list. I also look more deeply to shooting rules, we used very few since now (some javelins and bows, but always LF). These are my doubts:
  • Charging with missile armed troops. MF need to test if armed also with bow (etc.) or if armed only with bow (etc.) I guess the first, but I'm not sure because if so even Immortals need to test
  • In turn sequence, in last row of shooting rules talk about initial pursuit, but in initial pursuit (p101) it says only BGs whose close combat opponents have broken pursuit. So, if a BG breaks due to shooting, who pursuit it?

Yes even Immortals test to charge

Nobody pursues people routin from shooting. You can chase after them in movement if you can be bothered.

So the phrase in "Full Turn Sequence" "Make intial pursuits. Remove bases if pursuers remain in contact at the end of the rout move. Roll to inflict commander losses." is just a typo, likely due to an excess of copy and paste? :o If so no problem of course. Many time in contract specifications I wrote I make specifications of system types which are not in that project, because I copy from another plan.

As Written anyone on close combat withit. Can happen as you can shoot troops in close combat sometimes.

Seen it twice.

Sorry, you are right.
Anyway, I put no malice in my sentence, because really sometime I copy and paste too much (I mean I copy sentences not wrong by themselves, but not applicable to contest) but even in such cases I didn't consider my job no good. So the sense of my post was "I really will not throw the first stone even if this was a typo".
Returning to the issue, nobody pursuit a BG broken by shooting if such BG wasn't in close combat, isn't it?

If nobody is in close combat with those broken from shooting nobody pusues them.

Missed the part where a BG could be in close combat with a BG broken by shooting, who then would pursue.

Also if a neaby BG breaks from shooting a BG in close combat could break in the shooting phase.

Do you mean because the second make a CT to have seen the first to break?
