Macedonczyk(Dacian Carpi 107-380AD) defeats General Shapur (Magyar 830-1049AD) 41:8
Good luck in the terrain again. On the right side the lake and on the left side the forest blocked the attacks from the flanks.

Division 3
Deeter (Ptolemaic) defeats Thunderbird (Scythian/Saka) 26% - 58%
Things started out badly when a key general died at first impact leading to a collapse on one flank. This was followed shortly by the deaths of my remaining generals, making the eventual victory very difficult. Good game.

There was definitely good terrain for the Carthaginians... but also some of the best ZOC work to open up and exploit flanks that I've seen. Very well played, GG!Macedonczyk wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:50 pm Division 1

I honestly had no idea I had a shot at winning after RBS gave me a 40 - 0 thrashing. Thank you all for the games and what a tight table we put together.

random27 (lydians) draws with kerait (latins) ---> 62-63
I think it s a draw when two players exceed 60 % otherwise kerait wins because he killed me one percent more

Correct, if both armies go over 60% it's a draw.random27 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 11:34 pm Result

Aetius39 (Frankish) defeats rs2excelsior (Seleucid) 66-57
Super close game that was up for grabs till the last minute! The Franks tried to hold a line with forest at their flanks to avoid flanking by the Seleucids, but they got excited and several came down after enemy units. It descended into a brawl with the Franks up first, then the Seleucids evening it out. I honestly thought rs2excelsior would win as it was 57-57 or something very similar, and I had two fragmented units. Amazingly they held and one of his routed strangely to a giant hammer. GG to my opponent who played really well, but maybe his units should have been praying to Odin and not Zeus.^^

Div 1
Karvon (Lombards) defeated rs2excelsior (Sassanid Persians) 61-56 for a 3-1 win.
Two rather similar armies, cavalry supported by massed mediocre infantry. Lombards with lances and the Sassanids with bows plus elephants. The field was broken up by patches of rough and woods. There were a few larger patches of woods, on both Sassanid flanks and on the Lombard left, but they didn't really factor into the battle. A long gentle slope was on the right of the Lombard side. We maxed out our light foot as a potential counter for the expected elephants and took a bunch of the defensive shieldwall supported by a pair of massed bow. That left us with enough points for 9 lancers supported by a couple of other cavalry and light horse. Our hope was to minimize the elephants with our light foot and drive off the horse archers with our cavalry. We initially deployed our massed infantry along the slope on our right with our horse lined up in the center. Our light foot were deployed in line in front of our infantry. The Sassanids essentially mirrored our deployment; they had a mass of mediocre infantry deployed on their right with a dozen or so horse archers arrayed across the center and left supported by a pair of elephants.
Initially, we sent our lights forward supported by a few horse to deal with the elephants, not a very optimistic plan given the number of horse archers along side of them. we shifted our lancers to the far right to threaten the horse archers, but retreated around behind our infantry on the hill as the elephants came forward. Our light foot launched a number of volleys at the elephants and routed one of them, but the other survived to our sorrow and most of our lights were slaughtered in the process. The Sassanid infantry rumbled forward and shifted a bit towards the center following behind the horse archers and surviving elephant. With their horse archers on the left, this offered an opening perhaps for my lancers and we shifted more that direction, drawing the attention of the elephant and some horse archers. The horse archers swept up to the hill and began harassing fire on my infantry, so we charged down the hill, scattering horse archers ahead of us. I sent one division of lancers to help with that while the other two continued working left. At this point, the battle sort of broke down into a lot of small actions as lancers chased horse archers and tried to run down enemy spear while avoiding the elephant and our spear valiantly chased whatever horse archers came within reach further away. The horse archers tried ganging up on isolated targets and flanking charges as the opportunities presented themselves. The elephant tromped over any lancer unfortunate to come within reach and ended up chasing one off the field, giving us some respite. Losses piled up on both sides, see-sawing back and forth. Then, the elephant returned and started lumbering back towards the swirling fight. We pushed the Sassanids over 60% only to see them rally several units to continue. The next turn we managed to again push them over 60% and this time, they didn't rally and the Lombards raised a weary cheer as their foes streamed off the field shortly before dusk.
and the final scene...

Fun game but the matchup favoured the Carthaginian. Too many troops that were ideal to counter the Skythians. Thanks Deeter!

Similar situation with wakeavenger. He hasn't replied in a week and was on the verge of breaking. As this is my last game remaining, it would be nice to wrap this up.

Macedonczyk(Greek western 280BC) defeats Aetius39(Roman 280BC) 46:19
The river between both armies hills on both sides of the river and the sea on my right wing. Since the left wing of the Romans was weaker and there was a possibility to cross the river without fight, I decided to attack with big forces and the weak rest to defend the hills by the river. A weak Romans could not cope with the attack, additionally reinforcement from the center were attacked by my center and my left wing was in trouble but it defended the river.
