Friendly troops interpenetrated by routers

Post by BlackPrince »

In my last game I was using English HYW and one of my longbow BGs was routed by Beastly French Knights. This longbow BG then ran into a Men at Arms BG behind them (there was not enough room to wheel) so they interpenetrated the Men at Arms BG. With other troops were interpenetration is not legal the hit BG is burst through and drops a cohesion level but English HYW longbow and Men at Arms can legally interpenetrate each other. In the situation were ROUTING English HYW longbow men interpenetrate English HYW Men at Arms do the the Men at Arms count as being burst through and drop a cohesion level?

1. Routers are not permitted to wheel to avoid friends.

2. If it is a permitted interpenetration then there is no cohesion loss.

I know this is what the rule says. But it just does not seem right. I don't think English longbowmen and Men at Arms would maintain a steady formation when running through one another at routing speed.(drop everything and run boys)

Beware that they are only allowed to interpenetrate if they pass through perpendicular back to front or front to back (see page 48 ). Otherwise they burst through!
