1. Royal Navy - a lot of various scenario possibilites:
- convoy escort against uboots/ luftwaffe
- convoy escort against surface raiders (arctic convoys)
- mano a mano with Raiders: Bismarck, Rio de la Plata
- "regrettable" actions against recent allies (France): Mers-el-Kabir
- small surface action against motor torpedo boats in north sea/ channel
- Narvik campaign
- evacuations: Dunkirk, Crete
- raids (Lofoten/ Dieppe)
- light flotilla action (force K/ subs from Malta) against italian convoys
- uboot hunter/killer air/sea patrols in Bay of Biscay
- surface night battles in Mediterranean
- major amphibious actions like Torch/ Sicilly/ Anzio (with US Navy), Normandy (primarily RN responsibility)
Don't forget the Pacific Fleet (after force Z and the Java Sea, it mostly remained in the Indian Ocean however, hard to get an interesting scenario against the Japanese apart from the already covered Force Z Burma Road mission)

But speaking of raids, that is another potential niche campaign, the Royal Commandoes as the player's core follows the elite commandoes groups across the war, from the famous raids at St. Nazaire and Dieppe, to the lesser known Norwegian raids, the LRDG in North Africa then Yugoslavia, Italy and Greece, and maybe even paying Burma and the Chindits a visit once more. Maybe this niche could also be applied the Allied Airborne armies, with a modified Airborne core that the player builds up and follows some of the more famous battles both British and American paratroopers fought in. Imagine the final Operation Varsity Scenario with a very scary 5 Star Airborne Army

Going back to the main topic, i know that i would love to visit new conflicts (or theaters of war(aspects of known conflicts) in potential new DLCs for OoB. In the recent soviet campaings, i liked manchurian and crimean scenarios, but playing again and again Kharkov, after the german campaigns... not so much fun (for me at least). Maybe a crazy italian campaign with scens in Spain, Etiopia, North Africa, naval engagments...? A chinese one? A Free France take (i know there is something unofficial cooking in this regard ;))?
A proper Italian Campaign would be rather interesting if it also incorporated the Italian Navy into the Player's core force. Scenarios would be rather hard to do with Sandstorm already out, and would have to focus on some mostly Italian operations before the Germans arrived in force. Perhaps an alternative could be a focus on the Italian Expeditionary Force to Russia. There were some very shinning moments from the Italians during Case Blue, and trying to hold the doomed flanks at Stalingrad with the poor tanks would be rather challenging but fun none the less. Ethiopian campaign is something I have never seen pulled off in most games, but how would the core work since the East African Army was meant to hold out as long as possible while the Libyan Army invaded Egypt.
Etiopia ... Final landing of the Italians 1942 in Madagascar

North Africa alone could be a Commando campaign. You have the attempt on Rommel, the LRDG raids, the Deep Sahara French fort raids, the battles between Major Luck's recon battalion for the AK versus the commandos from El Alamein to Tuinisia...

Too add to this list, has there been any thoughts to add some post WWII content to OOB? I think the game could definitely pull off some of the immediate post war conflicts, with the Korean War seeing Soviet v. Allied style armies clash, and the Arab-Israeli war of 1948 using mostly British equipment on both sides. and as mentioned before, the finale of the Chinese Civil War could also work incredibly well with OOB.

2. Polish campaign.
After USSR, US, GB and China, actually it was Poland that fielded biggest armed forces against Axis (not the French!), with forces in Western Armies (GB), eastern front (formed in 1943), and biggest resistance movement of all (Home Army, virtually an underground state in occupied area of Poland). Take a look at wiki page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_co ... rld_War_II

Some highlights:
- start of WW2 in the west mean Poland was invaded full 360: by Germans from north, west and south; Slovakia from South, USSR from east; with some celebrated battles (like a week-long defense of Westerplatte, where "official" first shots by german pre-dreadnought Schleswig-Holstein were fired)
- Polish forces took part in Narvik campaign, as well as Battle of France
- Polish fighter pilots were 5% of those in allied forces of Battle of Britain, but accounted for 12% of german losses - polish Squadron 303 of Hurricanes was tops from all squadrons actually.
- Battle of Atlantic in general (convoy escort), including (inconsequential) gun duel by destroyer "Piorun" with Bismarck (really!)
- Army of general Anders, formed from prisoners from soviet gulags, released and that had to trek through USSR to Iran to join middle east British Army, subsequently taking part in North African and Italian Campaigns, including: "flying circus" of Skalski (spitfire fighter squadron), battle of Monte Cassino (biggest of Italian campaign, it was actually Poles who fought and took the Monastery)
- Normandy Landings, and Normandy campaign, and the really the rest of the Western Front
- Market Garden (yes, Gene Hackman is playing a Polish General in the movie "A Bridge to Far")
- an uprising in Warsaw, which took 2 months for massively overwhelming Wehrmaht to quench
- on the eastern front: Op Bagration and every subsequent op in central european plain (including battle for Berlin itself)

As well as some intelligence coups like getting the details of Enigma to French and British intelligene in the first days of war (yes Poles were doing the Enigma code-breaking years in advance of WW2), getting detailed V1 and V2 plans (and samples!), and getting intelligence on and documenting the holocaust and nazi concentration camps.
I am 100% behind a Poland Campaign. Being Polish obviously has nothing to do with it... Totally impartial opinion, I swear! :D

I am also in favor of a Polish campaign, maybe even extending to the partisan operations.

I love the various possibilities and really look forward to them.
I have skepticism though for Chinese take on the OOB though, not sure if this game is available in China but potentially it could cause a political / commercial backlash given the sensitivities. Anything that perceive the ruling party in a bad light is not going to be received well.

I am not trying to politicalise this, it should be based on historical and factual. But given that OOB scenarios do involve some "what if", I think its better to steer clear.

I think it's a good pt. to keep in mind. Personally I dunno how far sensitivities go these days, but a DLC would be mostly about the KMT side, less about the CCP side. In few cases there was coop between the two, but not regularly.

Re earlier question:

Certainly the conflicts listed (Korea et al.) would be good choices IMO. But for now there's still quite some ground to cover in WW2.

I would love a Royal Navy/Allied Atlantic Campaign. Kriegsmarine, although fun, was too a-historical.

You can conquer China as the Japanese in OOB. If it isn't banned already, they'd probably ban it as soon as they discovered that.

As for what I'd want to see, I want to second Israel and Korea.

LandMarine47 wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 2:44 am With Red Steel out, I am sure that many would love to speculate what exactly is coming after the final Red Army dlc (Wonder what it will be named, Red Fury or Red Steamroller?) Since I am sure this DLC will be like Endseig with a very long campaign to wrap up the Soviet WWII experience, I wondered what else OOB will get in the future.

1. I am sure OOB will eventually give us a western front campaign, but the question is how will OOB handle that campaign? I would love to see a British Core fighting in France in 1940 or Greece and Crete in 41, but if not we can always revisit the desert and take on the Afrika Corps until the US forces get involved. I think a potential western front campaign could also be the first to give us 3 core army groups, giving players a American Core (the largest of the 3) a British core, and a Canadian Core. Canada had plenty of unique battles that could either get their own respective scenarios (The Scheldt and the battle of Ortona are some easy examples) or simply work as a smaller independent force similar to the SS faction for the Germans. I would love to see an Endsieg style campaign if the player manages to pull of Operation Market Garden, but there is still plenty of fun to be had with a historical campaign.

2. An Australian/New Zealand campaign would be great, as it could start with a north African beginning then move over to some of the lesser known battles of the Southern Pacific Campaign, like the Kokoda Trail campaign. Limiting equipment like the Finnish DLC would make for an interesting campaign.

3. Chinese Campaign, This isn't the first time a Chinese counter to Morning Sun has been discussed, but a historical Chinese campaign where players could control both the nationalists and communists might work out, but I don't know if it would be very historically accurate to have both sides coordinating military plans, as they often opposed each other during the war. Either way the Sino Japanese war is never touched in most games period, it would be nice to play as the other side

4. France, another idea discussed many times, following the French from the beginning of the war (Maybe the first scenario could give us command of the failed invasion of 1939) to the fighting in North Africa and Italy to Operation Dragoon and the fighting around Colmar. Maybe it could follow what the Winter War DLC did and focus most of it's scenarios during the fall of france so we can use those French Giants against the feeble Panzer tanks.

5. Japanese Burma Road, another return to the Pacific, and it could go either was with a historical core that sees japan defeated, but instead of being restricted to Burma, players can also see the late war Chinese Offensives and resist the Soviet Invasion of Manchuria, or follow Rising Sun with the Japanese Army invading into India after Burma, with support from the small Indian national army.

These are just a few ideas I had, and regardless of what DLC are coming next, I look forward to them all! OOB has really grown on me and become one of my favorite strategy game, that hybrid of PzC and the Commander games with a lot of support from both devs and the community! Hope you can all add your two cents to the idea bin :)
Very interesting points. I like it.
About the Japanese grand campaign. I feel that what now we have - two DLC's it is not enough for the japanese Army but first (in the future of course) the devs could change the main objective in the last scenario in Morning SUN. I very like this DLC but I dont like that we must catch "CHANG KAI SHEK. It is unhistorically and its causes that theoretically sino japanese war is over. It is not this is not good option in my opinion..

some sort of allied campaign in Europe from start to the end.
That would complete the game.
polish campaign ! why ?
Who would play that besides people from Poland.
Waste of time and money. let a Modder(Eric) make it

A British or American Atlantic naval campaign would be interesting, would most likely have to have a few what ifs though later on in the campaign.

I have no idea why some people in the forum ask for a Polish campaign, sure some of them continued to fight under the allied banner after the fall of Warsaw until the end of the war but they never really had an independent command that would of seen them do their own missions or allow them to make their own choices.

I'm all up for What ifs at this point after the soviet trilogy; soviet vs japanese war in siberia, america vs british war for canada, France invades Italy early on in the war 1939, Spanish Civil war. Early Italy would be fantastic with an alternative end game.

I suppose an American campaign would be on the agenda but it's just what every other ww2 wargame does that's been played to death unless they decide to do something unique with it; Allied carpet bomb/ shell everything and swarm the germans while the germans try to delay as much as possible before pulling back due to lack of resources.

Considering the brand new units added to Hungary and Romania, both countries could also host their own campaigns, but I think Hungary would be more interesting considering how fierce the fighting for country became near the end of the war. Romania could have a core follow the soviets.

as for the Polish campaign, it would be hard to manage a core considering the eventual loss of the country, but I do not see it as a useless venture, just impractical to keep a (unassumingly) fully experienced core out of Poland once the campaign is over. Kind of the same situation with an East African Italian campaign. There is no real way either the Polish or Italian forces could have realistically held out for Allied forces to arrive. While I enjoy Alt-Hist alot, the devs seem to really want to stick to real battles and scenarios as much as possible (or at least very plausible scenarios like Herkules, Downfall, and Antwerp following a successful Watch am Rhein) . Those are my two cents, the Polish WWII experience certainly has a lot of potential, so maybe one day modders will take a crack at one. I can see the Warsaw Uprising being a very fun single scenario mod!

A DLC that add Random scenario generation would be nice (like in many other wargames out today ..)
- and as an addition an addaptive AI so exist scenarios can be used only the Map and the side (ply vs AI or Pl1+pl2 vs AI ...) can be free selectable
... (and an upgrade to the strategic map to make here at last usefull would be nice -> zoom levels - atm all bigger maps hard to read, even on 32zoll 4k .., optional markers to show important POI and not that i musst first search the map for things i like to know .. not a usefull map then ...)

The Polish contribution to the war was not entirely minor. They fought on most of the Western Fronts, for most of the war, as part of the Western Allies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Ar ... n_the_West. A smaller force (and one whose history is fraught with political problems in Poland currently) fought with the Soviets in many battles later in the war on the Eastern Front: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Ar ... n_the_East). These were the forces that eventually (and much, much too late) made it into Warsaw during the 1944 Uprising. I could see some small scenarios for the Eastern army, due to the fact that it existed a much shorter time than the Western army did. There could be a branching option after the initial invasion of Poland, where one chose to go either west, with General Anders, or stay in the east and fight under General Berling. This would obviously have to be a passion project for someone... but I do think it would be an interesting area to explore.
