Brits need some help

Post by TopGun1 »

Been playing the Brits and seems like they have nothing that can stop the russians or the germans. Is there anyway you can pick your own army besides what the randomizer gives you maybe that would help.

Are you playing a scenario or a Random generated battle?
Historically the Brit equipment wasn't too bad, for example there was the Firefly tank and Archer SPAT with their awesome 17-pdr guns, the Churchill family with equally-awesome armour, and the 17-pdr popped up again as an AT-gun, nobody better mess with that baby.

Oh and let's not forget the dear old Matilda II which duffed up the Waffen-SS real bad in France 1940:
Gen.Guderian quote from 'Panzer Leader' page 114-
"On the 21st of May a noteworthy event occurred to the north of us: English tanks attempted to break through in the direction of Paris.
At Arras they came up against the SS Division Totenkopf which had not been in action before and which showed signs of panic"

Yeah I'm a big fan of the random generator myself, it's good but still needs a few fixes.
Like you said, at the moment we can only play with a computer-generated force and have no say in what the units will be, but at least we can deploy them wherever we want like this-

1- Make sure the 'Custom Army' box is checked (blue circle)-

2- The deployment screen will look like this, so right-click every friendly unit to make it disappear to the force pool-

Image

3- Then simply select the units from the pool and place them in any yellow deployment hex, plus of course you've got some cash to buy a few other units and deploy them too-

PS- HEY DEVS, if you're reading this, my biggest gripe about the generator is the fact that we can't choose which nationality we want to fight against.
That means for example, if we choose to be the Brit player, we might find ourselves fighting against an American or Russian force if that's what the generator throws up, and vice versa, so please do an upgrade later to allow us to choose the enemy nationality, thanks..:)

And if anybody's wondering why some yellow deployment hexes are in the sea, you CAN place ground units there and they'll change to a landing craft icon, then you can transport the unit to a coastline hex when the game begins..:)

PS- I've had PC2 for a month and have hardly touched the campaigns and scenarios yet because I'm totally hooked on the random battle generator because it throws up a brandnew set of units and brandnew map every time to test our awesome wargaming skills.
In fact when considering buying any wargame the first thing I look for is whether it has a random mission generator, otherwise I'm not too interested..:)

AHA!- i've just found out how to select all your own units in Rand battles..:)
Firstly check the 'Custom Army button here-

Then hit 'Play' and it'll take you to the deployment map screen below-
Now simply select whichever units you don't want and hit 'Disband' to delete them from the game and you'll be credited with their purchase points and slots (blue circle at top left). You can delete every unit if you like.
Then simply go to the Purchase screen and buy exactly which units you want and start the game..:)
