Which commercial Terrain Makers products are FoG compatible?

When I played a game of FoG recently I found that though I had always had enough terrain pieces for DBM/DBR and Napoleonic games, I just did not have enough that were FoG compliant. No problem, Salute (large UK show with dozens of trade stands) is coming up, I will pick up what I need there (so stopping the ribbing I was getting).

Not quite as easy as I had imagined. Only two of the retailers had a selection of 2 or more FoG compliant items (all had ranges that were almost totally DBM compliant). Does anyone know which retailers have FoG compliant terrain for sale (my major problem at the moment is gullies but there will be other types I am sure)? Have the authors considered contacting the leading terrain makers and explaining how FoG has changed the minimum size requirements? If not I forsee some interesting discussions with the rules lawyers. Not everyone has the full 6".

(I did check the rest of the threads in this section but could not find anything on a similar topic)

Apologies for not having gotten my rules yet (still waiting Amazon??) but would you mind briefly listing the terrain sizes? This is useful information.

On the plus side, having gone off and done things besides Ancients in recent years, I now have heaps of terrain, I just want to know what sizes are appropriate?

The basic rule for FOG terrain pieces are they must fit inside a 12MU circle and be larger than a 6MU x 4MU rectangle to count as a single choice. A larger piece counting as two choices must still be 6 x 4 but must fit in a 16MU circle. This in effect means nothing "thinner" than 4MU is permissable but anything on an up to, say, 8 x 8 base would be ok for a normal piece and 11 x 11 for a large piece if they're roughly square...which they dont have to be, of course!

Roads are a base wide and one choice is up to 60MU of road. "Coastline" would need to be a table short edge long and up to 6MU wide and a river up to 4MU wide and a table short edge in length.

Fog Complaiant?

I have found 90% of my DBM terrain was fine and even more terrain from any terrain vendor worked.

I mean bigger than 4x6 and smaller than 12" circle is a pretty easy box to fill.

Gullies are always hard to portray as usually the terrain needs a visually impact. Years ago Geohex which would work great for scenarios had a way to build them by building up the whol table.

Melkart makes cool stuff and is Europe somewhere.

Mikel. Gracias. Desafortunadamente no hablo español. However the pictures look good.

Dan. I went to 5 trade stands selling terrain before I found 1 that had more than 2 items that were FoG compliant. Most were less than 4" (4MU) wide or REALLY big. Products for Wargamers seemed to have the most that was compliant but SA Scenics did well but no gully.

Speaking of gullies, I should add that http://www.miniatureworldmaker.com.au/ does some excellent gullies that I have ordered and used in FOW WWII games. They are moulded to sit on a flat table with raised banks and the flat part of the gully in the middle. Although not actually a depression they look quite realistic. They are made in a flexible rubber resin, pre-painted and ready to use. I have bought a large one (you buy segments) and it has given good service.

Well, I know its the rules and all, but for my first games, I plan on using whatever terrain I have spare - in size or not! So long as it looks something vaguely like the terrain, then that's ok for me ..... for now.

Obviously this wouldn't apply to any tournaments, but I think there are enough rules to remember, so I won't be getting upset over it in friendly games.

Hiya,

I make terrain that is aimed at 6mm/10mm and I was at a trade show and a chap bought a lot of my fields as he said they were great for the smaller of the 2 sizes permitted in FOG.

I do not play the game so am unfamiliar with the sizes permitted, can anyone help me with this please?
