Any developer or player want to elaborate of how the A.I works ?

A mix of deep gameplay and rich historical flavor, Aggressors: Ancient Rome lets you relive history as the ruler of one of the mighty civilizations of the ancient Mediterranean. Choose one of twenty available factions and conquer the world.

Any developer or player want to elaborate of how the A.I works ?

Can anyone describe how good the A.I is in the game ? Either if a developer have the time to describe the A.I engine (in short) or if a player can compare the A.I to other 4x games like Civilization and Galactic Civilization.

Does the A.I cheat on higher difficulty ? Will you improve the A.I in future patches ?

For me, the strength and competence of the A.I is the most important factor in buying a strategy game. I will always play as single player.

There is a great developer video, see links above in the forum. There are also dev diaries - links above in the forum.

Basically the AI is VERY good. I'm not going to bad-mouth the AI in other games, but ... Aggressors is much better than some popular 4x games. It also uses the same rules of play as the human player. The various difficulty levels in the game do not give the AI cheats, it just gives them more less resources and aggressiveness.

I always play single-player also, and in playtesting have played a variety of the factions in the game, and also custom maps, not just the Ancient Med scenario. Every one of those instances I've played has been fun, from the EASY difficulty all the way up through Legendary. Not that I succeeded in winning on all levels - the AI creamed me several times, depending on which faction I was playing and/or difficulty level.

One of my most enjoyable playthroughs was on EASY, actually, custom map, huge world, just a few AI factions opposing me. I had a great time empire building, made some alliances, had some persistent AI enemies, and I remember well commenting in the playtest forum how exciting it was even in late game, when I had conquered most of the world, and the AI was still giving me trials - in terms of using its terrain for defense, rising from the ashes in areas of my empire that I had not properly pacified, etc.
