In that state, they are technically transport ships but they still are considered ground units for this purpose. It just so happens that the supply ship is the same Transport (Naval) class that is used in the trigger:
So it seems it's always been like this in the Norway mission? Supply ships being counted within the ground units counter?
Not that there aren't enough Brits to destroy to meet the objective, just didn't notice before.
Yes, because I did a "before and after" on that trigger and it did not appear to have changed from one version to the next. You were being a good soldier, just following orders until now. If you were told to hunt ground troops (on land or in transports), why would you disobey and sink a supply ship?

Say, I was trying to look at what you were talking about the don't use tanks objective and getting a defeat despite winning primary objectives. Can you elaborate a bit?

Actually after the win on turn 19 (the other screenshot), I looked through the scen in the editor, and found the following trigger (to mark the sec. obj. "tanks" complete).
Of course, I wanted to try it out and decided to reload and prolong the game until "scenario turn limit".
Screenshot 485.jpg
Screenshot 485.jpg (191.9 KiB) Viewed 3670 times
It looks okay at first glance, right? But won't work like this. "Scenario turn limit" triggers always fire on the "+1" turn after the last one. Meaning it would only fire on turn 31, if 30 is the total amount.
And with the alliances set up like they are (AI starting first), there's never gonna be a turn 31 with a win for the player. Only defeat. This trigger obviously has to be amended.

But somewhere along the line I ran into this:

Screenshot 486.jpg (205.71 KiB) Viewed 3670 times
So i've "exploited" it to enforce a wrongful defeat condition.
Shouldn't happen during "usual" gameplay.

I've did it three times, and have 3 defeats, although all other objectives have been completed. So, how in the heck do you connect Oslo and Trondheim?? Or is it a glitch? Any help appreciated! :D
I tested the Check Supply Connection condition just now and was successful:
Screenshot 3.jpg
But this was an artificial setup in that I placed German units just outside of Oslo and Trondheim, removed Norwegians in the way, then ran the scenario from the editor while "#johnconnor-ing" to a linkup meeting half-way between conquered Oslo and Trondheim. So the trigger itself seems to be working but it may have something to do with the order of objective triggers being activated. Notice that in my experiment, I never even activated the "Destroy 6 Allied ground units" objective.

So while I am glad to see Check Supply Connection working, it does not explain why you fellows keep failing this objective.
Appreciate the response! I'll try again, but it's an awful long scenario just to have it not working. Makes me wonder if it might not be my difficulty setting (Leuitenant), and that the order of objectives might be different during activation. Either way, hope it gets fixed soon! :?

Hi,

Had you connected all the cities with a supply corridor between Oslo and Trondheim? There needs to be an uninterrupted connection between the two to count as a Supply Connection (you don't actually need the cities, you can go around them, but there must be a line of YOUR territory that connects the two.

If you have, then could you upload a save game so I can see what's happening under the hood?

Well, connecting Trondheim to Oslo is is STILL not triggering! Any way just to skip this scenario? I've completed it 5 times now. All objectives cleared, but it will NOT trigger the connection trigger between Oslo and Trondheim. It's getting old and fast. I just want to skip it now and move on to the next one. Maybe Slitherin will fix it one day. Ridiculous! :x

@Surpent

I'll need a save game to be able to figure out what's wrong. As no-one else has reported the issue, I have to assume that it's something that's unique to how you've played the scenario?

Thanks,

I have no problem with the trigger Connect Oslo and Trondheim (6.1.9) :

I think what might help him is if someone can post a screen cap of what the connected supply line looks like graphically. I suspect there's a gap between 2 of the captured cities/towns. I'm way past that scenario but if need be I guess I could play it again and do this myself .......

There's something else possibly going on: When a supply connection is being built, not only can an enemy unit actively cut what has been already established, but merely running a friendly unit past enemy units may not ultimately work in that an enemy unit's zone of control, and territory, automatically expands a hex even if it does not move at all. The supply connection may not stay continuous for these reasons.

Here's a good example, perhaps. When that German tank moves on, if there are no other German units around, the Norwegian unit's zone of control is going to expand a hex automatically. If the supply corridor established by the tank is only one-hex wide, then the supply connection will be broken:

I'm not saying that this is definitely the answer, only a possibility that could be overlooked.

Yep, that's at least how I did it with the "defeat" exploit from a few posts before. The mechanic works vice versa, as my units expand the supply connection one hex, too. I was thus able to close the connection Oslo-Trondheim without the trigger noticing. "Turn start" trigger event could work better in that respect.

Very good, thanks. This is how we can triage this stuff so that the developers can concentrate on fixing the true issues. Maybe Surpent does have a valid complaint, maybe not, but at least we have some indication that the trigger is working and that there could be extenuating circumstances like this to explain his experience.

For me, it is not a real bug but something to know, in particular for the scenario designer.

Or some foxhole. I remember many situations when I drove past a foxhole with one of my tanks without noticing it's there (foxholes are concealed units) and then have my supply line cut by it on the next turn... like magic... :D

Hey, guys, really appreciate all the info. and help. I've restarted from the beginning (the whole campaign, not just Norway), and I think that final solution might be it. I was not taking into account the zone of control that a unit might have, whether I own the town or not. It's sneaky. But, yes, I have owned the town(s), but never realized that bubble of control breaking into the supply lines between Trondheim and Oslo. Next time, I will make certain ALL enemy units are cleared from around the supply line. Thanks again, and will report back on what happens! :D

Nevermind! I got it. And that's what is was as discussed above. The airfield up in Trondheim did not have zone control. I owned the airfield (and that bunker was destroyed), but it still made me put a unit on it. Once the unit was place, the trigger worked. I must say, though, these areas of control are a bit confusing, as to when they appear and disappear, and as to who has ACTUAL control. This was confusing, something I hadn't encountered before in the previous missions. I'll be keeping an extra eye open now. Thank you all!
