I'm confused or perhaps am seeing something wrong. This has to do with the same unit attacking the same unit twice in the same turn. I'm not referring to after a pursuit or attacking against two different units while in melee.
It seems on my turn, I can only attack with the same unit once against the same enemy unit. However when I am watching the returned turn from the other side I am seeing that an enemy unit attacks my unit, the games moves on to other attacks, but then comes back and that same unit attacks my same unit again. This happens with multiple enemy units being able to attack twice in the same turn. What am I missing here? Am I seeing something wrong? What is the why or how of the unit getting two hits while you can only get one?

Re: Confusion about double attacks
All melee must be resolved each turn. If you forget to resolve one or more melees and end the turn, the computer will resolve them before your opponent gets to act and will then show you what happened when the turn gets shipped back to you

Re: Confusion about double attacks
Thanks but still confused it shows the same unit attacking the same unit twice during the turn. Are you saying some of them are actually a melee from my own turn that was not resolved? That might explain it I suppose at least in some cases. When on my turn the odds show a high percentage of failure I often don't do the attack (melee or not). So you are saying the system won't let me refuse such an attack so it does it anyway even if I didn't want to do it?MikeC_81 wrote:All melee must be resolved each turn. Re: Confusion about double attacks
You are 100% correct. Once your troops are in a melee they continue to be pinned there unless they rout or break off themselves or they force the opposition to do the same. Judging when to make a safe attack or seeing the consequences of getting attacked in advance given the pinning effect is a big part of the strategy.
Re: Confusion about double attacks
That is correct. Once a unit is in melee, it must fight a melee every turn, yours and your opponents. So if you have a unit(s) that is due for a melee combat resolution but don't fight it out on your turn, the computer will automatically resolve all out standing melee fights before allowing your opponent to proceed with their move. On their replay it will appear as if you have resolved them, but when it goes back to your turn, you will see the outstanding melees for your previous turn, followed by your opponent acting his turn out and then any melees that your opponent failed to resolve.
There are other factors where multiple attacks can occur but those mainly happen when chasing routing troops and then hitting another unit which grants you a free attack. You can get some ridiculous chains sometimes if you get a unit that can someone charge down the line collapsing one unit after another.
