Still not able to launch OOB Kriegsmarine

Post by neilhammond »

Hi,

I've tried the various suggestions on the tech forum but still not able to launch the game. The game still freezes at launch (black screen - first reported 22 Apr). I'm using 3.4.2, and have tried deleting and reloading the game, as well as downloading the suggested options file. I've also made sure my graphics driver is up to date. I've also tried setting the nvidea GPU as the preferred graphics processor, as suggested, but it makes no difference.

Other games (e.g. Afghanistan 11) work fine and earlier versions of OOB worked.

Regards,
Neil

After having set Nvidia as the preferred graphics processor have you renamed the folder "Order of Battle - WW2" as "_Order of Battle - WW2" in your Windows Documents folder (...\Documents\My Games)?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
There is no such folder under Windows Documents folder (...\Documents\My Games). In fact there is no \My Games folder under \Documents. I do have such a folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Order of Battle - WWII. I did try and rename this but it just gives me an error message.

I'm not talking about the installtation folder, that can be in Program Files (x86).
If you don't have a "My Games\Order of Battle - WWII" in the Windows documents folder than the game won't run for sure.
Are you login to Windows as administrator?

Yes, I'm signed in as administrator. I did delete the game completely and reinstall it a couple of weeks ago. Not sure why the "My Games\Order of Battle - WWII" isn't there in the Windows document folder

Okay, found "My Games\Order of Battle - WWII" - for some reason it was in the Downloads folder not the Documents folder. I've moved the "My Games\... folder and subfolders and renamed it to "_Order of Battle - WW2". I also uninstalled and reinstalled the program (v248 then v342). But no joy - still same problem

So, after renaming to "_Order of Battle - WW2" has the game created a new folder named in the "My Games\Order of Battle - WWII" ?
Or do you have only the renamed folder?

I only have the renamed folder. It doesn't create a new folder when starting the game.

Please attach a DxDiag report file.

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8/10 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8/10)
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
6. Attach the file to your message

Make sure that your Nvidia graphic card is the preferred graphic processor in the Nvidia panel:

Yes, this has been set up, and I've just rechecked it. The nvidea graphics card is selected.

Reduce the DPI scaling level to normal settings 100%, reboot Windows and check if the game start.

Once I log into the new administrator account I assume I need to install the game?

BTW, I also have an iMac and this DLC does not work on there either. I have the latest version installed but once I select a campaign (any campaign) it takes you to a map of the Pacific and then you can't do anything. It doesn't hang, it's just you can't do anything in the screen except exit or open op the options tabs.

I've played all of the previous DLCs on either the Mac or the Dell laptop so not quite sure why this DLC is so problematic.

Yes, you need to install the game.

Regarding your question with Mac, when you mount the dmg file, you'll see a window with one OoB icon and one Documents folder.
Do you drag the OoB icon to your Applications folder?

Re the Mac - good point, I don't drag the icon to the application folder. I'll do that.
