bug? no soviet exploitation in snow
bug? no soviet exploitation in snow
During the zhukov counter attack scenario, my soviet tank don't seem to be able to do any exploitation when destroying german unit.
I need to double check that. Does other people have encounter this problem?

Hi Skanvak!
Thanks!
Check out this rule from the game manual, and let me know if this is your case as well.Breakthroughs are not permitted to either side on mud turns, and only to the Soviets on snow turns.
Thanks!

Yes, turn 19, Serpukhov, weather is snow. The nazi germany infantry unit is destroyed in one round prepared offensive. The soviet armour, undamaged, cannot make a breakthrough as it should.
Another partial bug may be :
I put a soviet tank brigade as reinforcement in Kurk, I want to activate it but it could make only one area move to Lgov. On the 3rd or 4th impulse the bug disappeared (I didn't move the unit) and the it could do the normal 2 area move to Kromy (the move which is buggy is : Kursk (start)=> Lgov => Kromy). There are rails that connect correctly.

Hello again!
Thanks!
As I said in my last reply, the Soviets are unable to perform a breakthrough move during snow turns. You can find that in the Help section of the game, alongside other game rules. The exact location is: Help -> Main Rules -> Combat -> Section 7.5 Armor Breakthroughs -> Subsection 7.5.1 Breakthrough Limits.Yes, turn 19, Serpukhov, weather is snow. Not sure what to say about this right now. Give us a little bit more time to try and reproduce this, or a little bit more info if you have. Were there any Axis units in Lgov?I put a soviet tank brigade as reinforcement in Kurk, I want to activate it but it could make only one area move to Lgov. Re: bug? no soviet exploitation in snow
No for the breakthrough, I read the other way round. Rule 10.1 on weather is clear. This is the Axis unit that cannot breakthrough. The soviet can.
My undersstanding is that the German was at disadvantage on snow and the soviet advantage (the history description implied the T-34 was more at ease on snow than German tank).
For the move bug, there was no german unit in Lgov. Though this should not change the issue rulewise (codingwise might change).

I think you are not reading the rule correctly. Clearly 7.5.1 says that only the Soviets can breakthrough on Snow turns, not that other way around. Also, section 10.1 says that on Snow turns "No Axis breakthroughs are allowed.", clearly implying that Soviet breakthroughs are allowed.
Re: bug? no soviet exploitation in snow
My bad, indeed. The Soviets should be the only ones that can use Breakthrough during Snow turns. I fixed that in our version, you will have it fixed in the next patch. Thanks for pointing it out!
LE: I managed to find the movement bug that you are talking about, and it is now fixed in our working version. New builds will be available in a few days. That was a really hard bug to catch, congratulations!

Re: bug? no soviet exploitation in snow
Thanks,
I reduplicated the same trouble with German Armour in Ennemy at the gate scenario. The bug was with the armour not the mechanized.
Another very minor bug, I got the Barbarossa success by taking Moscow in Ennemy at the gate scenario...
By the way, the Zhukov AI is making the same mistake (Zhukov or Konev) : they don't let a unit in Moscow when moscow is in range of a breakthrough. This make the instant victory REALLY easy.

The AI opponents don't play perfectly. They have their flaws, but I will not divulge them here, heh. We will see if we can do anything to make them act smarter when they are in deep trouble near Moscow, but for now we are happy with the way they are playing and any minor change in their algorithm or values might lead to unwanted consequences.By the way, the Zhukov AI is making the same mistake (Zhukov or Konev) : they don't let a unit in Moscow when moscow is in range of a breakthrough. Experienced players will for sure be able to find their weaknesses and exploit them in a few matches. Still, the AIs will prove a worthy challenge for the rest of the players, and the best way to find a greater challenge is always heading to Multiplayer.

Re: bug? no soviet exploitation in snow
The AI is not bad and I love the idea of having AI behave differently for difficulty (instead of cheating) or change of pace.
But for Zhukov not leaving a unit in Moscow is a very beginner mistake.

Re: bug? no soviet exploitation in snow
Hi ! Just bought the game and love it ! Heading to multiplayer too after a few games in SP. And indeed, I usually get Moscow after a breakthrough, in the turn 1 scenarion and turn 12 as well. Maybe leave some kind of garrison permanently in the city ?
Re: bug? no soviet exploitation in snow
Hello Ohf!
Changing the AI at this moment is risky and needs a lot of testing to make sure fixing 1 mistake won't create even more.
But since this is clearly a dumb move that the Soviet AI is doing, I will try to teach him a lesson and see how that goes.
Thanks for the feedback!
