WARGAMES FACTORY - GREAT NEWS

Post by jdm »

Yesterday we updated everyone on the new release dates for our first two boxes (Romans and Celts) along with the brand new set of miniatures (British Line Infantry for the Zulu War) that will launch next month with them.

We promised to follow up to tell you how we hoped to make up for our delays to those who made a pre-order commitment. The email to pre-order customers has just gone out -- so now we can post this:

First, everyone who pre-ordered the Romans and Celts will be receiving a free box of the British Zulu War figures!

Second, if you have pre-ordered both the Romans AND the Celts (as most of you have) - the Romans will be shipping first, so we will take care of all additional shipping charges for the Celts.

Third, I had mentioned previously that the first 2500 boxes of Celt Cavalry would be discounted by 20% -- and we will be doing that when the box is released in late September.

And finally, some VERY good news for those who ordered the Celts! In working out the manufacturing process, we had a LOT of time to think about the structure of these boxes and what goes in them -- and also what we (as wargamers) would REALLY want as the end-user.

It got us thinking HARD about things -- and I'm going to write up a longer post about this in the next few days -- but basically we came to the conclusion that as wargamers we don't want to be forced to buy BIG units. We'd like the flexibility to be able to buy a smaller box of figures -- and if we like them -- we can build up our units with more boxes (as long as the price per figure stays LOW!) That's the reason the British come 20 to a box for $14.95. And it's the reason we've re-thought how the Celt Warband box is designed.

The new box (coming in late September) will feature 32 figures and will retail for $19.95. You will be able to field several Field of Glory units (Battle Groups) from this box because we are including not only command, standard bearer, and musician figures -- but along with the sword and javelin arm options -- we are also putting in slinger arm options. So a combination of a few boxes will give you several BGs of Warriors along with BGs of Slingers and/or BGs of Javelinmen. Basically, one box will cover all the core foot units for this army. When you couple a number of this box with our Celt Cavalry box and that other Celt box -- you can easily build either a Gallic or British Celt army in no time.

Now for the good news, everyone who ordered the box as it was originally configured for $29.95 is going to receive 2 boxes for every one they ordered. So they'll be getting 64 Celt miniatures for $29.95!

Sadly, the Roman sprues were already configured in such a way that we couldn't do something similar -- but future sets will conform to this new philosophy on box sizing/pricing (which I'll explain in greater detail in a few days).

So let me just wrap up with a big thank you again to the many of you who have already ordered and hope that all of the above will help make the wait bearable! We are so excited here at Wargames Factory to be so close to release with many, many other projects already underway for the next several months!

Thanks again,

Tony
