two questions

Post by hugh2711 »

1) I am in the middle of a DLC and i seem to be getting really wierd random results. Is there any way i can check and if neccessary change back to my normal dice chess mode? from dice. I dont want to replay the scenarios i have already done.

2) I play bf europe and other mods by the copy to a different directory and just overwrite the files. because i have tried lot of different mods recently in the 4th (big) scenario my wulfrahmen seem to have jumped from range two to one. I think it is because i have overwritten or messed with the file that determines attributes. If i wanted to edit that file to put it back to what it was:
what is the name of the file? ???.?dat?
where exactly/in what sub-directory will i find it?
what do i use to open it?
is it obvious what i have to edit?
I dont want to have to go through the three scenarios i have already done

thanks for info

2)
In Battlefield: Europe v1.6 the shooting range of the Wurfrahmen 40 was deliberately reduced to 1 hex, so it is not a bug. Historically it fired 28 and 32 cm rockets which had a maximum range of only 2 km. Precisely 1,925 metres (2,105 yd) (28 cm) and 2,200 metres (2,400 yd) (32 cm). IMO this very short range does not justify a range of two hexes in the game so I decided to reduce it to just one to better represent the historical facts.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/28/32_cm_Nebelwerfer_41

This change is also referenced in the readme file of the mod:
- Wurfrahmen 40 range reduced to 1 (!!!), Soft Attack increased to 22. Historically this unit had a very limited range, only 2,200 meters when firing the early 28/32 cm rockets, thus the lower range.
If you still want to change it back to the vanilla unhistorical 2 hex range you have to open the equipment.pzeqp file in the Data folder of the moded PzC version with any text editor like the Win Wordpad and find the Wurfrahmen entry:

86 Wurfrahmen 40 4 533 4 73 6 1 1 0 22 11 0 1 6 6 1 1 0 Wurfrahmen_40.png 7.5.1941 1.1.1945 0 Nblwf

and edit the second "1", which gives the range in hexes to two and then save the file

86 Wurfrahmen 40 4 533 4 73 6 1 2 0 22 11 0 1 6 6 1 1 0 Wurfrahmen_40.png 7.5.1941 1.1.1945 0 Nblwf

The change would apply when you reload your savegame in the previouos scenario and then continue to the next one.

1) To change randomness finish the current scenario
At the bottom of the screen you will see a range of options - proceed, view battlefield, difficulty.

Select the 'difficulty' one and you can change the settings using the same screens you see when you start the campaign.

And...
To check what setting you are on, attack an enemy unit.
Press L
This will show you the last combat results.

If it gives percentages and lists the individual dice rolls you are playing random.
If it gives percentages and lists the numbers of killed and suppressed but not the individual dice rolls you are in dice chess.
I haven't played using chess setting so don't know what it displays there.
