A.I limited by fog-of-war ?
Does anyone knows if the A.I is limited by fog-of-war rules or if you can ambush A.I units or lure them ?
Re: A.I limited by fog-of-war ?
Hi Karl,
The AI isn't aware of concealed units and it is possible to ambush AI units / have them hit mines etc.
In some scenarios (depending on the scripted tasks assigned to teams) the AI is given some information about the location of your forces, but this isn't on the micro management level, so individual hidden units aren't revealed.

Oh, you can lure them. The AI armored attack in scenario 5? It doesn't even remember that you have AT behind your units. AT units are much needed in that one.
I haven't seen them step on mines, but I rarely use them as on the higher levels I am just trying to stay alive! I don't need wasted RPs. If you are on defense, perhaps mining a choke point would work. Really mines (and ambush) need to be stronger IMO.
If the AI saw everything you wouldn't be able to encircle it. I promise you can. That is very powerful.

Mines aren't really an effective way of damaging the enemy, but they can be useful for slowing the enemy down. Remember that mines are revealed if a unit is adjacent to them, so generally speaking, after the first mine is hit, an enemy won't accidentally go over any more.

So to be more specific, the A.I is not aware of units with concealment ability (by the way, where can I read about all the effects of different abilities in detail ?), but units which are not hidden is the A.I aware of them when planning its move ? For example. Sometimes it seems the A.I just know that I have undefended victory locations far behind the lines and just sneak up to take one. That seems to me they can see that and are not limited by the fog of war and they have not any planes nearby to spot the hole.

I have used that in MP. If you have an enemy unit retreat, you better hunt it down. It isn't "knowing" it is "let's see what we can do". Use the supply borders will tell you if something is behind you. I try to close off gaps to make sure nothing is behind me in SP or MP. If the is a hole, I know something is there.KarlXII wrote:So to be more specific, the A.I is not aware of units with concealment ability (by the way, where can I read about all the effects of different abilities in detail ?), but units which are not hidden is the A.I aware of them when planning its move ?
