experience points in an arial battle?

Do you get more experience points for shooting down an airplane rather than just inflicting the same amount of damage to another plane?
How are experience points gained in an arial battle calculated?

Experience is based upon the number of kills and suppression.

Does not make a difference if unit is eliminated.
