Observations

Post by Mercutio »

I am now in the throws of the last battle to take Australia. Now, it could be because I got use to the mechanics in the US campaign that I played at normal (middle level) that playing as the Japanese at level 4 I learned enough to make it easier.
That said, I still learned a couple of things the hard way in the Japanese campaign like strategic bombers wipe out supply for that hex. I was probably dense and didn't pay enough attention to it. I thought it reduced the enemy points, but if I take it, I don't get the supply points because I bombed them. My bad.

Overall, I found the Japanese campaign way easier on the 4th level than the middle one once I got past the original campaigns. Several of my elite units accomplishments are Japanese. Blowing up PT boats is sooooo easy that I got level 5's in all levels of naval units.

On the flip side, I found it aggravating when invading Brisbane to be limited in fighters because most advanced fighters were army to attack heavy bombers. The Imperial Navy was on its last legs, give me a better fighter if I am doing well instead!

Regardless, I am interested to see if others thing the Japanese campaign is easier than the US one as I may have confirmation bias.

Overall, good game!

IIRC also other players did find the Japanese campaign easier. Though I think doing better in diff lvl 4 than on 3 might be due to players improving with more play-throughs.
