Carrier Base & Land Base Aircraft

Post by simcc »

I am playing Imperial Japan atm and have reach Melbourne. I find that the Land base aircraft is useless the entire campaign not because its poor action but the lack of land base airfield makes them hard to deploy might as well focus on carrier base aircraft to maximize the experience gain.

Anyone else thinks land base aircraft is usefull?

Thx

For the US - you do get the B-29 Nuclear if you chose the Manhattan Project Perk.

Carrier based is certainly more flexible in a sea/land environment - like in reality.

I find the most of early aircraft somewhat weak vs. ground targets, but land-based Strat works quite well IMO.

I have not gotten to the later stages of the US campaign but don't understand what utility comes with ownership of a B-29 nuclear bomber in a largely tactical wargame. The two nuclear weapons that the US had were both expended in August, 1945 and IIRC, materials existed to assemble perhaps one or two more by the end of 1945. Is the idea to use the nuclear bomber to destroy tactical targets in the game? Can someone who has gotten to the end of the US campaign please clarify how the B-29 unit is used in game? Thanks.
