Greetings all,
Great game and liking it a lot. Playing a campaign as Japan and up to the second battle (taking Luzon). Has anyone done this battle (achieved secondaries - main mission is OK)? if so did anyone actually achieve the secondary missions of destroy Clark Afld by turn 12 and capture the two bridges by turn 10? If so I would be fascinated to know how! The distance and defence would seem to make it impossible. Interested to hear .....
Cheers,
AKL

Good question! I also failed to think of a way to get those two secondary objectives. I would like to hear what the trick is.

You can really only do one of them.
Destroying the airfield needs you to destroy a fuel depot that is 5 in strength. So you need 2 tactical bombers shooting at it by going all the way across the map to attack it. If you fail, all it does is spawn one dogfighter (p39 i think?). Not that much of a issue.
Capturing bridges is actually VERY important if you want to increase your army size next mission. What you have to do is ignore the Main VPs and rush EVERYTHING (except a few units on the left to defend against americans taking your supplies) across the middle main road and keep going till you reach the bridges. I had to restart the mission 3 times before I finally got it on turn 10(!!!).

I took the two bridges with four paratroopers and blew up the airfield with two tactical bombers. Less than this number of units should be possible depending on diff grade (whatever the difference is there) but that's always difficult to guess if you play the missions for the first time. The experience gain of units is still very slow, so maybe everything is a bit easier after patch 1.

You can also grab them using regular forces. The trick is to ignore the bunch of Allied troops on the west part of the map north of the bridge. Then come back for that bridge later.
The eastern bridge is a bit more accessible, I think you can just move troops down there and fight your way to the bridge. Ignore the objective NW of the bridge for now.
I don't have the map in front of me, hope my compass bearings are not too far off

In many of the scenarios, it is difficult (read probably impossible) to gain all secondary objectives. You usually have to make a choice and enjoy the different replay flavour when you go for the missed one next time.

bridges captured by a simple Rush
airfield only one squad of paratroopers
dropping paratroopers they destroy a fuel depot and capture airfield --- and you recive trophy p 40b warhawk---if you dont want lose them simply evacuate them on ki 34 thora (u need stay on airfield and pay 20 rp) on the next turn
